IDW has released 3 volumes of Hardcovers for Angel: After the Fall. Its the hell on earth season 6 we would've seen if it continued.

Sounds like a good teaser before the opening credits...if only.

If this happens, I'll definitely be at the theater on opening day. Buffy was such a fun show.

Re: Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer (v2.0)

I'm going to assume anyone reading the following has seen season 7 and the series finale, so if not... spoilers.

My fear, and the problem I have with the season 8 comics, is that season 7 escalated things to such a point - ended things so "big" - that they can never go back to the quaint "Scooby Gang saves the world" theme that really made the show work. That small core group hanging out in the school library or the magic shop, trying to figure out how to kill whatever megademon or Big Bad... that's what really made the show work for me. Whether or not they ignore the season 8 comic continuity, the fact is the show ended with 1000s of slayers and no more Sunnydale. It'll be hard to recapture the show's charm under this setting.

A separate, stand-alone film based on either show could work, but it's probably safe to assume this is nothing more than a belated April Fools joke.

I have faith in Joss that this could be done well, and I'd love to see it. That said, I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer (v2.0)

I'm going to guess that this will put a hold on a Buffy movie

From people.com
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are expecting their first child together, a source close to the couple confirms exclusively to PEOPLE. "They're very excited," says the source, adding that the actress, 31, is due in the fall.

Gellar, who has been married to Prinze, 33, for six years, will next shoot the HBO pilot The Wonderful Maladays, for which she serves as an executive producer. Prinze recently shot the comedy pilot No Heroics for ABC.

From Sci Fi Wire:
Rumor control: About that Buffy movie? Joss speaks

Here's the final word on that rumored Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie from the creator himself, Joss Whedon.

"Not gonna happen," Whedon told reporters in Hollywood on Wednesday. "Not gonna happen. Until I gather the press and make a public announcement myself that it's going to happen, never believe anything."

So there you have it!

Wow, bitter much?

I don't think Joss was saying that he didn't want to make a new Buffy movie, just that there's no current plans, negotiations, deals etc. in the works. He was dispelling a rumor and telling people not to believe any such "news" unless it comes from an official source, like his own mouth.

I took his words of "not gonna happen" as its never going to happen.

You took it the wrong way then. Otherwise, he wouldn't have followed it with "until I gather the press and make a public announcement myself..." which implies that he thinks it's still a future possibility.

Perhaps they are testing the waters with rumors? Ghostbusters 3 started as such before materializing into something real last year.

Ghostbusters 3 was a rumor since Ghostbusters 2 was released. The current thread on it was started in 2005:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/movie-talk/...sting-etc.html

Studios don't "test the waters" with rumors, in fact they prefer the opposite. Rumors get started when someone leaks info, either real or fake. A number of movie deals have been put in jeopardy when info about them have been leaked.

Re: Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer (v2.0)

From Zap2it:
Emma Caulfield talks 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' reunion

Emma Caulfield may be moving on from her "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" roots, but that doesn't mean the former Anya doesn't think about her old sci-fi friends. In fact, during a WPIX interview about Caulfield's latest film "Timer," she reveals that a Buffy reunion film is an idea that has been "circling."

Caulfield goes on to say she keeps in touch with her "Buffy" co-stars and even though her character died in the TV series, "anything is possible" given the fantasy genre of the show. After all, if Buffy can come back from the other side, why can't Anya? But see the interview for yourself and make up your own mind...

Re: Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer (v2.0)

I gotta be honest, I would much rather see an ANGEL movie where some of the characters of Buffy showed up. The television show BUFFY:TVS wrapped up quite nicely.

Re: Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer (v2.0)

I seriously don't get how anyone could desire more Buffy after the last half of Season 6 and the whole of Season 7. It sucked. Balls. Seriously.

This should be the last frame of Buffy:

THE END.

Now... more Angel. That's what I'm talkin' about. But I don't think David B would want to go back to it after all his success on Bones. Don't hold your breath on either account... read the comics and enjoy.

Re: Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer (v2.0)

I said in a recent TV Talk thread about seasons 6 and 7 that the season 5 finale was how Buffy "Officially" ended for me personally, with seasons 6 and 7 being an afterthought.

As for ANGEL being turned into a film, David Boreanaz said several times after the show ended that while he wouldn't want any kind of TV movie or reunion, he knows how well the show would work in a feature film scale given what they were able to pull off every week on TV and would be open to doing that...his words (if I'm remembering the quote correctly) about turning it into a feature based on that small screen achievement were 'we'd totally blow shit out of the water'.
