Well I'll tell you what, we could keep arguing this but I don't want to detract from the subject of the thread. My point is I feel a movie like this is no place for 10 year olds. If you feel parents make a conscious decision to expand their preteens' horizon by bringing them to R rated movies that's fine, I just don't agree. I'll admit I'll never get you to think there is anything wrong with it, if you admit you'll never get me to think it's appropriate, then the discussion can go back to the movie itself.

When I saw it there were definitely kids in there who looked to be about 12 or under. I was a bit surprised, but it's the parent's choice to bring them. They laughed just as much as anyone else during the movie.
If I had younger kids, would I take them to see it? I don't know, depends on the kid, I guess. I might see the movie first to gauge whether or not it was appropriate.
I also work at a movie theater and the other day some kids, clearly 13 or 14, came up to our guest service desk with tickets for Up. They said they wanted to exchange them for The Hangover. I said, "Of course! Three tickets for The Hangover. I'll get those for you as soon as I can see all your ID's." One kid calmly pulls out a high school student ID. I said, "No, a state ID." Then they started whining and saying "Come on, man, it's no big deal" and so on. They saw Up that day.

I can't tell you how many kids bought tickets for Up and did this same exact thing at the theater I went to. Hell, we did it all the time when were younger.

It certainly wasn't as bad as when I went to see "Bug" and this family showed up with six fucking kids, the oldest no more than five. That was something else.

I saw it earlier this afternoon and there was a family who attended it & sat two rows in front of me. Mother, father, and two sons, probably aged nine or ten at most. I don't begrudge anyone who takes their children to see movies that aren't necessarily made for them (my grandmother and I went to see "Nightbreed" when I was a kid), but when they started discussing internal cumshots & jizz ten minutes into the flick, I had to wonder just what these parents were thinking.

I liked the movie quite a bit but didn't find it quite as hilarious as most of you guys did. I'll get it on DVD used but not on Blu-ray.
What are they going to do for a sequel? Get drunk and high again?

I as well, it was a fun premise, but in final form it was lacklustre at best. The humour just bordered on plain dumb. It also didn't help that I can't stand Bradley Cooper - he's so utterly bland and annoying as shit. I'd give this a C-

Actually you just didn't like it, so it isn't "I as well" to that entire statement.

I know being a few years older than most of you I'm in the minority on this board on this topic but I have to get it off my chest. My daughter works at the local theater in the ticket booth and tells me people are bringing kids as young as 10 to see this movie. I'm sorry but this movie is just not good for under 15 +-.
My point is people am very dumb.

And Ken Jeong was probably my favorite part of the movie.
Also, the way Galifinakis said "retard" was hilarious.

I agree Giles. I didn't find this movie hilarious or funny at all. It's not a terrible film. Just nothing extraordinary. I only laughed a handful of times. So, the funniest movie in 15 years? Not in my book. That honor goes to "Anchorman" or "Election" or "Pineapple Express" or "Forgetting Marshall". Maybe even "Role Models". Really wanted to like this more.

^ oh don't get me started on 'Anchorman' - as everyone here probably knows, that's one of my least favourite comedies (along with 'Chasing Amy')

The wife and I just got back from seeing this. Loved it. Thought it was hilarious. Ed Helms and Zach G were huge highlights. Also, Heather Graham looked super hot.

I saw the film this past weekend and I've been thinking about it ever since. It's not the great comedy classic that everyone is making out to be, but it has some strong positives and stronger negatives.
The best thing about the film is that Zach Galifianakis. This is his movie and he steals it from everyone else. Anytime he's on screen, he's simply amazing. To go back to the Anchorman comparison someone made earlier, Galifianakis has all of the quotable lines in the film and they'll most likely be quoted for years to come. The supporting cast is great too. Ken Jeong, Rachael Harris, Matt Walsh, and even Mike Tyson himself.
It also helps that the film is constructed in a way that plays it more as a mystery than a run of the flock sex comedy. It makes it smarter than it needs to be and I liked that.
The negative? Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms.
While Galifianakis is hard to top, this is still a comedy and they both drag the film down as they're not comedic actors. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed both of them in past efforts; but they can't roll with the punches as good as Galifianakis can. For a balls-to-the-wall comedy such as this one, you need actors who can hold their own, and neither of them can do it.
As much shit as I'm going to get for this next statement, one of the best thing about Apatow films is the comedic actors can do both comedy and the dramatic gravitas that's needed for specific scenes. Cooper and Helms can do the average guy shtick well, but they can't take some of the material and make it a home run that it needs to be.
I enjoyed the film and would recommend it, but I don't think it lives up to the hype.

Didn't live up to expectations. No idea why this film is getting so much praise.
A few funny lines/moments. The "extreme" situations just didn't tickle my funnybone.
Laughed extremely hard once though, and that was during the photo's at the end credits!
