Was that lady someone famous? The whole audience was yelling and laughing more than the scene warranted.

I'd have to disagree. I first saw him in Wet Hot American Summer, and I feel like he would have continued to make more films like that, except his looks turned him into a romantic comedy leading man. Nonetheless, he's always been in movies like Wedding Crashers and Yes Man in between the Failure to Launches and the He's Just Not That Into Yous, which I guess I felt is more like what he wants to do, and I thought he was funny in the movie. Certainly Galifianakis is funnier, but I don't think Cooper is non-comedic.

I think part of the reason this movie is so great is because of the chemistry they all share. I don't know how you can say Ed Helms isn't a comedic actor - he's from The Daily Show and has never done drama.
Bradley Cooper is more like the straight man in this - which I think you need in a film. You can't just have a whacky idiot and two funny guys.. that's part of the balance.

Saw it this afternoon and it was every bit as hilarious as I hoped it would be.

Saw it yesterday. Laughed a lot in the first half hour. Not much after that. the audience was relatively quiet after the first half-hour, too. Once the plot kicks in and everything starts getting "explained," the film loses steam. I would have preferred it if WE, the audience, knew more than the main characters. That's how classic farces are built. Watching them catch up to us is much funnier than keeping us in the dark. A little more work on the script and it could have been a classic.
Having said that, I must say I was very impressed with the three lead actors. I thought the scenes of them bonding were the best in the film and I wanted to see more of them just...relating. I thought Mr. Cooper was excellent and I think he's got the chops to be a real leading man, one with appeal to both men and women. And I thought he handled the comic aspects of the role very well. I believed him and his reactions and that helped me get through some of the more absurd goings-on. I liked his reactions to Alan's (Zach G.) bizarre behavior--he was amused at times, not amused at others--and some of his lines to Alan were the best in the film.
P.S. This was the first time I've seen any of these actors.

I think it's a good comedy, but not up to the hype people are giving it. And was it only me catching little references here and there to laugh at? Like when Alan compares themselves to Three Men and a Baby? And they still didn't explain Phil being in the hospital. Or why and how they ended up at Tyson's. The end credit montage was priceless.

There were several things that I'm sure would be easier to catch with a second viewing. I know I missed a lot of lines due to the laughter.

I heard something about the sequel being shot in Thailand. That could be interesting.

Saw it Saturday to a full theater that laughed the entire time. Sure I missed a lot of jokes. I thought it was very funny and was worried since there was so much hype behind it.

How so? Last I remember Andy was a douchebag, Ed's character in Hangover was a total pushover pseudo-nice guy.

I can see the relationship being similar, but the characters strike me as pretty different. Andy is a lot more sure of himself. The Hangover character was more of a sad-sack.

Well it was raining yet again here on a Saturday so we decided to go to the movies. I haven't seen Transformers yet but with all the lukewarm reviews to be honest I don't have that much interest in seeing it.
With the family heading off to Vegas next week we decided to get in to the spirit of things by going to see Hangover a second time. Although the surprises were gone, it was just as funny the second time around. I got a lot more of the lines I missed the first time due to laughter. In fact I probably laughed harder this time than last. This is sick fuckin funny ass movie. I will definately own this when it is released. I can't wait to see the making of featurette.

I agree, it holds up on repeated viewings and I will be buying it on Blu-ray.

In regards to parents bringing kids into odd films. Here in the UK Juno was a 12a and a woman brought her 5 kids in. The youngest looked about 3 years old. 12a is a rating NOT A FUCKING CHALLENGE!

My neighbors gave me a money back guarantee, demanding that I go see this movie. Luckily for the both of us, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Far more enjoyable than I was expecting.
