From the plot synopsis:

Ellen Page plays "Isabell" a teenaged girl who is smarter than everybody else in the room, and knows it. Isabell hides her true emotions behind flippant remarks and snarky sarcasm.

You can also swap out Ellen Page for Diabolo Cody and the same thing applies.

The only movie I didn't think Page was completely dreadful in was An American Crime, but the movie was so boring she was bad by association.

I don't put any stock in it really, the Oscars have never really done anything for me, but it still an accomplishment for any actor/actress.

I wasn't defending her, just saying her career isn't too shabby from anyone's point of view.

Yeah, they weren't even trying with that poster. Movie still looks sweet though.

It's a cool lookin poster (and trailer), I don't care if it's derivative or not. What's original these days anyways...

Re: Inception (Nolan, 2010): Contemporary Sci-fi/Action

Yea. They're both Chris Nolan & Co movies. I can't call the poster derivative. What can you call it? It's more good filmmaking from the same set of folks.

That poster's similarity to the Dark Knight poster is hilarious. Doesn't change my attitude about this being my most anticipated release of 2010.

wow...for some reason my reading totally skipped over that Page was actually in this..I just assumed it was that awesome hate rant against her, of which I feel no hatred towards her...I think she's fine and I enjoy some of her films. I totally thought it was a running gag that fell into this thread at the mention of her..but..she's really in this. Trailer is visually interesting of course...and..for some reason the French narration there bothered me. Are we going to get a narrated trailer for this in English?

Saw the new trailer before Sherlock Holmes today. Looks awesome, very cool Blade Runner-esque vibe going.

is this what is said in trailer:

What's the most resilient form of parasite? An idea. An idea has the power to build a city ... to change the world, and re-write all the rules ... and that's why I need to steal it.

Didn't pick up any "Blade Runner" vibe, but I saw the same trailer too before "SH" and it indeed looks pretty fucking spectacular.

....Yeah, I don't pick the BR vibe but it does look like a damn fine film. I love how Nolan can do these great films after a Batman flick. Prestige was an awesome project to do after BB, now this film looks like an ever better film to do after TDK..well...in the sense to be surprised or enthralled by a growing quality from Nolan. And yes...I love me some Nolan.

Can't wait, the Avatar of 2010 for me. I've seen the french trailer online but I can't wait to see the english version on Monday.

I get more of Bioshock vibe from the poster than anything...

Man I hope this movie lives up to expectations. Has Chris Nolan done any writing 100% on his own? I know Memento was his screenplay based on his brothers story, two Batman movies co-written by Goyer, Insomnia was pre-written and Prestige was with his bro and based on a book. Should be interesting.

Me too my friend. I feel Nolan and David Fincher are the best and most interesting directors working these days. Both growing with each film.

He wrote (by himself) and directed Following back in '98. I thought it was ok flick. Never finished it cuz I got kinda bored. Never finished it...guess I should.

Fumanstan and Daytripper: Fuck yeah, those two are fucking great directors. Every film they make truly shows their growth. Probably some of the most consistent and amazing growth in filmmakers today.

another Departed/Blood Diamond-esque year for Leo... I feel like this and Shutter Island will both be big box-office draws with good performances from this generation's Bobby DeNiro***

***hold the phone, 'twas a joke.

well....he has worked with Scorsese a lot recently..so your saying of that rings true. At least in the process of work, acting wise..well...it's hard to top the roles Scorsese had for De Niro.
