I have the feeling it might be TOO good for the average moviegoer - much in the way Kubrick's movies used to play. This is a good thing, btw. Good in the long run, but not in the short run of today's Hollywood that seems to measure quality in terms of ticket sales. Of course it's not like we'll never get to see another Nolan movie if this tanks, since the third in the Batman series with him attached is sure thing. I see this doing well its first weekend if the positive reviews keep rolling out, but dropping due to negative word of mouth from the average joe afterward. Of course I have to say I found Dark Knight somewhat deep for a comic book film, and quite elaborate in the story department, and it managed to do rather well, so I might be wrong. |

^^Now I really can't wait! (I had to type that sentence 3 times since I kept missing the correct keys since I'm so fucking stoked for INCEPTION).

Not really comparable.
Those movies (Matrix, et al) were very much products of their time. As of now, the whole theme, considering the times we have been living in, is inconsequential at best, and naive at worst. Not really going to discuss it more, since that would bring it into politics. |

Re: Inception (Nolan, 2010): Contemporary Sci-fi/Action
Coming Soon has a semi-negative review (a 7 out of 10 which is still positive, but with the guy calling the movie a bit of a bore):
"In a great many ways, Inception is an exceptional film. It boasts a larger than life cast, a virtually unrestricted budget and a director at the top of his game both commercially and artistically. Action scenes feature mountain ski chases, zero-gravity fights and flawless special effect dreamscapes. So how is it that "Inception" comes together as such a bore?" http://www.comingsoon.net/news/reviewsnews.php?id=67539 He's taking a lot of shit from fanboys right now  What I don't get is how negative the review is and he still gave it a 7 out of 10? Critics need to grow a pair and match the rating with what they actually mean. |
Re: Inception (Nolan, 2010): Contemporary Sci-fi/Action
I've come to believe that the number scale (much like the star rating) means absolutely nothing with regards to a review.

Four clips from the film have been released, in HD. Sorry about the funky line up, but all the embeds ran together and this is what came out...

I wish Berenger would show up in one of these trailers or clips -- curious to see what he looks like in this movie.

148 min, now if only it was R rated.

Why does the rating matter? A good story is a good story. Nolan's last film was PG-13 and that turned out perfectly.

Re: Inception (Nolan, 2010): Contemporary Sci-fi/Action
So if Dark Knight was rated R you'd like it more? Rating is mostly irrelevant to story quality.
