whats the run time without credits?

Re: Machete

Yeah, I have to agree, I think if you are trying to do an ensemble picture you have to make the characters' stories play-out as close to their logical conclusions as possible. And to have people die in a director's cut will be confusing to people when they see a sequel.

Solid Snake 08-24-10 09:29 PM

Re: Machete

what if those characters would've never been in the sequel and just self contained in just this film?

Yeah but then it goes into the whole question of why isn't it in the theatrical cut if they aren't going to be in the sequel?

I would think if they do try to make it a series, it would be cool to see someone, perhaps Don Johnson's character always on the hunt for Machete.

Because we have to wait till the dvd to see a fully-fleshed out version of the film. This makes me fear that it'll be a choppy, nonsensical mess the way Once Upon a Time in Mexico was what with it's multiple characters that get no real resolution. And now any criticisms or misgivings one may have can simply be brushed off with a simple, "Oh wait till the DVD. It'll be better!" It's just cynical money-making bullshit. And now two hours is too long for cinemas? What the shit is that?

according to imdb, the run time is 105 minutes

 It's all about $$$. Shorter theatrical runtime means more showings/day. More showings/day means more consumer friendly. All more money.

Expanded home video release means more purchases.

Knowing you can do more now and not is just shitty.

Tonight is the super secret Machete screening in LA. Tell Robert Rodriguez on Twitter why you should attend. Best three submissions will get to go as Robert's guests.

Anyone know what this is expected/trending to make opening weekend? I would really like to see it do well but...it is hard to tell what this kind of movie will do in this day and age hopefully The Expendables shows that there is an audience for a good( or at least and attempt to make a good) R-rated action flick.

Here’s a really cool Thai movie poster for the upcoming “Grindhouse” faux trailer turned film “Machete” from producer Robert Rodriguez.

Click Here for more photos, news and videos from Machete.

The upcoming film “Machete” by director Ethan Maniquis and Robert Rodriguez (Sin City 3, Planet Terror) stars Danny Trejo (The Expendables, Predators), Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar, Fast & Furious), Jessica Alba (Little Fockers, The Eye), Robert De Niro (Stone, Meet the Parents), Lindsay Lohan (Ugly Betty) and Cheech Marin (The Perfect Game, Cheech & Chong).

Synopsis: The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he’s about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he’s been set up. He barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren’t you!

Stay tuned to Shockya.com for the latest movie news and more from “Machete”.

Haha. She's politely blocking Trejo from getting some side boobage in that shot.

I don't like the fake print damage. It calls way too much attention to itself as having been added in post. Black Dynamite handled that better by shooting in 16mm and having actual print damage.

Re: Machete

Now that has me excited to see this. I want this to keep in the Grindhouse tradition but if I understand correctly that scene there is the opening and then it shifts to non-grindhouse

RocShemp 08-31-10 12:11 PM

Re: Machete

I'd be more excited if the print damage weren't so obviously fake. In fact, the cheapo fake print damage is the only thing I don't like. So if that's gone for the rest of the movie, I'll be real happy.
