I loved both Quantum of Solace and Stranger Than Fiction and my wife enjoyed Finding Neverland...I don't think Forester is a bad director in the slightest.
I don't think PG-13 makes a movie good or bad, and this movie doesn't need a lot of gore to capture the tone of the book.
I could give two shits about early script reviews.

By the way that 2nd draft is the one they are using for the movie.
Oh and you're in the extremely small minority about QoS.

Re: World War Z
Granted, there's not a lot of zombie carnage, but you honestly think this would get a PG-13?
<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/afcWyJhsBXo?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/afcWyJhsBXo?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
I wish I could live in a world where the MPAA would give that one-minute clip a PG-13.
It's kind of hard to make a PG-13 film based upon the fact the only way to kill a zombie is either to dismember them or shoot them directly in the head.

The moments from the book I remember the most are the ones about the aftermath, some of which are completely zombie-free.

Might want to check your math. 64% on Rotten Tomatoes means more liked it than didn't. And it's rated from "Rent It" to "Highly Recommended" here on DVDTalk. Maybe you're the problem.

If you don't care, don't respond.
And Casino Royale had a 94% positive rating...QoS was a major drop in quality.

...You guys aren't going to suck each others' dicks now, are you?
Anyway...I'm amazed this was actually filming. I've wanted to read the book for a while...but...I do believe that an R has to be something that the Zombie genre needs. The R pretty much lets the Zombie genre do it's thing. Unless it somehow handles the Zombieness well offscreen or sets up a very dark tone or whatever...I don't know if this is going to work.
Either way...I await to trailer to see what they got and from there I'll see if I'm a go or a no.

So you went from "extreme minority" liking the movie to a "drop in quality." I would have agreed with that, but I still think Quantum is a good follow-up to Casino Royale and one of the better Bond films if you look at them as a whole.

An interesting note is that the top critics rating drops even further, to only 37%

Re: World War Z
There are plenty of movies that get a PG-13 rating that are violent and gruesome. The MPAA is very strange about their rules for gore; if blood isn't bright red (if it tends more towards black), then it's more tolerable and more likely to get a PG-13 for a particularly violent scene. So I could see them doing exactly that for this film, like they've done for The Walking Dead and even LOTR.
Quantum of Solace didn't suffer from bad direction; if anything the script was at fault. In fact, I thought the direction kept the movie engaging when the script started to get confusing.
Throwing critical percentages around is never going to get someone to change their mind about a movie, so stop it.

Why are you repeating posts?
On a different note I can't wait to see how this unfolds on the big screen. WWZ is one of my favourite books, and I think it will be awesome!

Today in Bryan Cranston: Bryan Cranston in talks for World War Z
by Sean O'Neal August 8, 2011
Finally in compliance with motion picture regulations, Paramount has begun negotiating with Bryan Cranston to join World War Z, its adaptation of Max Brooks’ zombie apocalypse drama—one that has, until now, been dangerously freewheeling it without Cranston’s stabilizing force. Cranston would be taking on a “small but flashy role,” which is both his métier and, of course, the federally mandated minimum requirement of Cranston. Should he take the part, he’d be joining past and present AMC stars James Badge Dale (Rubicon) and Mireille Enos (The Killing), as well as star Brad Pitt, all of whom will be able to sleep much more soundly.

I haven't read the book yet. But I plan too soon. A friend of mine was telling me about this the other day and he said that he wished the book would have been optioned for a miniseries on premium cable. He really doesn't think this will work as a movie.

Some more set pics, but nothing really exciting: http://dailydead.com/new-world-war-z...w-matthew-fox/
Also, it now has a release date: Dec. 21, 2012.

A miniseries would work because you could just do more of the vignettes, but it would basically be a different cast for every one, which no network is going to try to do.

World War Z: New Plot Details
8/10/2011 3:51 PM
After the recent set pics and casting leaks, Paramount has issued a press release officially announcing the cast, release date, and plot for World War Z. While the release date and cast list is nothing new, the plot synopsis reveals that World War Z doesn’t appear to be following the exact same story from the book:
“The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.”
Paramount could just be spicing up the plot details, thinking “a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic” sounds better to those who have never read the book, but this seems like a big departure. Those who have read World War Z know that it takes place years after the zombie war, with oral histories of the survivors being collected. Will the film be a series of flashbacks? Is it taking place in the middle of the zombie apocalypse and abandoning the style of the book? We have a lot of questions at this point and will keep an eye out for more information as it is released.

More terrible news. Why do they have to fuck with the narrative? It's perfect! PG-13, Marc Forster directing, and now the plot has been seriously altered from the book. WWZ to be the biggest film disappointment ever.

?
Just cuz they muck up w/ the source material doesn't mean it'll be a bad film. The rating is very odd considering the subject at hand really needs that rating. I'm neutral on this. Give me a trailer...and I'll tell you what I think from what we're shown.
