Cool.

Regardless if how it took the source material, I still hope it's a solid flick. Looks pretty damn cool.

Not much of a surprise considering the guy talking on the video knew he was there.

Social media these days. He probably knew where and when he ate some Greek food and where and when he dropped the kids off at the pool.

I wonder how this thing is going to open. It seems to have almost no buzz. They certainly aren't selling it to the zombie-hungry masses.

Maybe they should sell it to the hungry-zombie masses

I'm actually now interested in this, because it's being sold as an action film. I'll go in there and assume that the film is one of those "virus/infected" flicks. Zombies? What zombies? Problem solved.

At 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, admittedly with only 20 reviews in so far...

Hmmm. But it's called World War *Z*.

I don't care. I think this looks good.

No buzz !? I see a commercial on every channel I watch and it's probably the most aired trailer/TV spot out right now. I'm actually tired of seeing trailers for it.

I just hope Marc Forster has learned how to shoot action a lot better than he did in Quantum of Solace.

From the Hitfix review, that does not seem to be the case.

I enjoyed Machine Gun Preacher and that had some action. We'll see how it goes.

Garth over at Dark Horizons posted on his Facebook page that he has just seen the film:

Just saw "World War Z". It is NOT the book, not even close to the same league of inventiveness. That said, it's a surprisingly energetic and often fun blockbuster. Some clever ideas from the book have made it through, the pacing is relentless, and tension is high throughout - the zombies here are much more "28 Days Later" than Romero type (lots of intensity, very little gore). That said the script is truly idiotic at times and the characters are all blank. Even with the flawed fundamentals though, it's a ride worth checking out.

With the troubled production, I expected horrible reviews. Quite the opposite, so far.

Re: World War Z

I'm also quite surprised by the reviews. I guess those massive reshoots helped.

This movie certainly has a lot of things working against it: Marc Forster as director, Damon Lindelof doing script work, extensive reshoots...

But then it has a few good things, namely: Brad Pitt as producer (He co-produced The Departed, Kick-ass, Tree of Life, Moneyball -- most everything else he's just been EP), Drew Goddard did the final draft for the reshoots.

I was thinking the same when I saw the trailer before Star Trek on Sunday.

Re: World War Z

I just came home from a screening of this on the Upper West Side. I had no intention of seeing it but had gotten some movie passes. I really liked it, I thought it was enjoyable and a good popcorn flick. I have never read the book so I can't compare it.
The entire movie theater seemed to like it and you could tell that as people were leaving I was hearing good buzz.
Now I am going to go read the book and see if they ruined it!
