I'm in. I'm a sucker for these movies...and the twist endings they bring (no matter how foolish they are getting)
"You won't believe how it ends" might be the greatest movie tagline ever

We really have no idea what storyline we're getting nor during which time this movie takes place. The lack of footage really has helped to increase my desire to see this movie.

Ive began thinking about this as well... it really could be taking place at anytime and we'd have no idea.

That whole tricking the audience with the timeline aspect has become overused. They did it in part 2 and part 4. I think it would serve part 5 well to go another route. I know Jigsaw is dead and all, so they have to deal with that somehow, but it's their fault for killing him off at the end of part 3.
I wonder if they'll try to say that part 5 happened before even part 1 happened. It wouldn't surprise me. That being said, I'm still looking forward to this. I like that the trailer had almost no footage from the film and that the clips have been minimal.

I agree with Clyde, it was better than the last outing. However, that's like saying taking a shit is better than having diarrhea.
There are no further plot developments than what we, the audience, could figure out by the end of IV. The film is what it is, filler, trying to get us to VI. It's a $10 fix to hold you over for another year.
The deaths and traps are unimaginative. It's as if the writers were just going through the motions from what they saw (and wrote) from the previous outings.
It's not as gory as the rest, which is upsetting, as I feel cheated I went to a "torture porn" flick and didn't see much torture. It's like renting a porn and all the hardcore bits are blurred and edited out.
The franchise has taken a huge fall since III (which I really enjoyed). Hiring the schmucks who wrote Feast to write this second trilogy hasn't helped matters much and I am the point where they're just making shit up as they go along.
However, I will be eating my words and you bet your ass I'll be at VI next October cause I feel like I still need some validation on sitting through IV and V.

Was the ending as kick ass as the tagline wants us to believe?

I went to a free sneak peak last night. It was at like 10pm so it would be too late for any critics to review it. Its pretty much the same but a couple of deaths are more gruesome.
As you know Lionsgate plans to make three more Saw movies so we all know Jigsaw gets away in the end. No real plot.

Hmmm... not a lot of surprises here. I was going to go see it almost entirely just to watch the F13th teaser, but since I've already watched that I'm not even sure I'll bother checking this out in theaters. IV was a piece of shit.

Wow. Sounds like this series should have ended at 3. I hated four so if the consensus is that this is worse, then I guess I'll pass.

I SAW It just now and it wasnt bad but it was the weakest of the series so far. I still really liked it but wont view it as many times as the previous four. It was just some back story and nothing new. I really want to see the uncut DVD next year to see if it adds more since its supposed to be like 15-20 mins longer. I do hope 6 is the final one even though I love the series so much. All good things must come to an end somewhere.

I really enjoyed IV, but this wasn't very good.
I still don't understand why "I won't believe how it ends." I'm not sure what they're even referring to that would be mildly shocking. They also never tied in the whole damn question
I might have missed the explanation, but they either glossed over it too quickly or it wasn't there.
