Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
Cautiously optimistic about this movie. I've yet to like any of Rian Johnson's work (save for an indistinguishable episode of Terriers) but know the potential is there (and he did S05E04 of Breaking Bad, as long as it isn't Fly pt 2 we're good.)

Really? May I ask why?

Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
Brick was a great film!

Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
Yeah. I was really really amazed w/ what Brick was. Couldn't believe that worked out..but at the same time...it could work out because the way personalities and how we think of things at that age are bigger to us..but really aren't in some ways.
I also really liked Brothers Bloom. |

Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
Brick was great and The Brothers Bloom was decent.
I probably won't see this though. I saw an interview with Johnson where he said he wrote the part for Gordon Levitt and then Bruce Willis became available and he couldn't turn down the opportunity to work with him. So that explains a whole lot. |
Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
I'm pretty excited to see this movie but I have a feeling I'll be pretty disappointed. I hope I'm wrong though.

i've come to believe that you type the first thing that pops in your head, completely uncensored. I just want to know why you subject so many others to these thoughts?

Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
I was looking this up on Yahoo movies to find out if it was playing in Oklahoma and saw that there was no rating listed. I looked on IMDB and there was nothing there either.

Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
Rated R for strong violence, language, some sexuality/nudity and drug content.
They may be appealing it for a PG-13 rating, which would explain it not showing up, but as for now it's R (per the MPAA). |
Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
It's R, period. Reviews have said the violence is R worthy.

Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
JGL in his Bruce makeup looks like Desmond Harrington from Dexter. I'm very excited to see this. Not for that reason... two separate thoughts... hmmm. Bye.

Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
Yep, my next highly anticipated flick to see.
|
Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
Really JGL's first reaction when he finds out Bruce Willis is him is to ask "How the FUCK did I go bald?"

...in otherwords, I found it boring. I wouldn't consider it a bad movie, it just wasn't for me. Similarly, I hope Looper doesn't run into the same fate as Source Code. That movie was well hyped up, incredibly well reviewed, and looked good -- and then I didn't really care for it. |
Re: Looper (Rian Johnson, 2010): "violent and dark" sci-fi
Except for the forced happy ending, I loved Source Code.
