I'm talking about Levitt playing a superhero because of what Bane does to Batman. I can't see two villains and an antihero along with Batman and Gordon.

Fanboy bitching about Tom Hardy not being "Latino"?
Have they ever BEEN to South fucking America? Do they know anyone from Ecuador, Peru, Venezeula, etc? There's such a diversity of ethnic types, from the tightest of whitey whiterschnaps to the bliggidy-bliggiest of blackies. Heck too many freakin' Venezuelans are convinced they're Italian anyhow... NORTHERN Italian. No way t |

This is a very interesting article on how racially diverse Nolan's Batman films are compared to the vast majority of comic book-based movies:
http://www.obsessedwithfilm.com/feat...php#more-58617 The genesis of the article was all the fanboy bitching about Tom Hardy being cast, Bane's ethnicity being in question. Though if they changed established characters actual race...that might bother me. Bane is pretty much white to begin with. His body isn't as dark as mine that's for sure. I in no way am offended by Hardy playing a Venezuelan badass w/ mask. |

Seriously, that article was far too preachy for its own good. I think the only time race really matters if it's logical to the story and characters. For instance, when Will Smith was briefly rumoured for Captain America, there was bitching and complaining about making Cap black when in the comics he's white. Honestly, the only reason Cap would have to be white is because of the WWII setting. Yes, there were black soldiers back then (though they were segregated from the white troops) and I'd even buy a black man being used as a guinea pig at the time. But, even if the project was a success, no way America of the time would embrace a black man as the symbol of their nation. The only way to make it work is the rewrite the origin to have occurred in modern times.

Funny. I don't recall your ire when Nolan changed Comissioner Loeb from a corrupt white cop to an honest black cop. -ohbfrank- ;)

re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
I could see Gordon-Levitt as Hugo Strange or a similar character, given Bane's backstory:
Bane ultimately establishes himself as the "king" of Peņa Dura prison. The prison's controllers take note and eventually force him to become a test subject for a mysterious drug known as Venom,[4] which had killed all other subjects; the drug is administered by a doctor who bears a passing resemblance to another Batman foe, Dr. Hugo Strange. Later, in Vengeance of Bane II the very same doctor encounters Bane again in Gotham and it can be confirmed that it is not clearly not Hugo Strange, who at that point in Batman continuity was a crazed psychologist and not a surgeon.[4] The Peņa Dura prison Venom experiment nearly kills Bane at first, but he survives and finds the drug vastly increases his physical strength, although he needs to take it every 12 hours (via a system of tubes pumped directly into his brain) or he would suffer debilitating side-effects. |

From BatmanOnFilm:
According to this French article, another INCEPTION star will join the cast: http://www.awardsdaily.com/wp-conten...eption_300.jpg Marion Cotillard. She's supposedly pregnant and will give birth in May but that will give her enough time before she joins the production in the summer. If true, thoughts? How do you feel about several members of the INCEPTION cast reuniting for this film? |
re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Um, she should be Catwoman.

Outside of maybe Cotillard (who probably had the most impact of any of them), it's not like Hardy or Levitt played memorable characters. I mean, I liked them but I'm not going to look at Hardy and say, "So where's Bane? All I see is [whatever his Inception character name was] in there." |

re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
They're so many great villians in the Batman comics. Why do we have to keep going back to Catwoman and Baine? It just doesn't make sense.
|
re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
...um...they've...only done Catwoman once in BR (unless you count that Adam West movie)..and Bane once B&R...it's not like they're going back to those two all the time.
Bane's most memorable role in the Batman media..is..well...the Batman and Robin....the worst incarnation of the character. Plus the cartoons...but people most likely remember him from the film. Catwoman is used all the time cuz she's Catwoman. Lady in the cat suit...likes to fuck Batman....on the wrong side of the law...etc etc. Catwoman is used in everything. Bane was only used in the cartoons and that one movie...that's it. So...he's still not really that popular or in the minds of people. People know who the fuck Catwoman is. Bane is still pretty much low on the radar for the average moviegoer. |
