re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Bringing in Talia makes perfect sense if Nolan is indeed setting this up as the final act of an intended trilogy. There are tons of Legion of Shadows members out there and several of them, if not all of them, know Bruce Wayne is Batman. It makes no sense that they would not return to finish what Ra's Al Ghul started.

Even if they are intending to use Talia (which makes sense) they could always add in another villain. I thought Hugo Strange was being thrown around the rumor mill for a while or is that dead now?

Given that Begins and Dark Knight all had multiple villains, I'm pretty sure Talia wouldn't be the only one.

I was always hoping for Talia using Jean Paul Valley as her ideal candidate as a replacement for Bruce Wayne to carry out her father's work in Gotham.

There are still rumours of Hugo Strange and he'd fit in nicely with Talia given both characters discovered Bruce Wayne is Batman in the comics.

Exactly.

Word is Scarecrow will be back. Hopefully he'll be used far more effectively than in TDK.

Why are people so eager to see JPV in these movies? I'm even an Azrael fan (a pretty large one, actually), but I don't think he belongs in any non-animated movie, and to just use the name for a random thug/hitman/whatever would just seem silly to me.

The main reason he was in TDK (along with introducing one of Gotham's mob bosses) was to tie up that storyline of Arkham inmates being on the loose and Batman working to recapture them as he said he (and Gordon) would at the end of Begins.

Not quite sure what purpose Scarecrow would serve in TDKR, though.

As for Jean Paul Valley/Azrael, I'd like them to stay away from the character unless he's used in some bigger capacity so that maybe he could be used in the next set of Batman films after Nolan (presumably) steps aside as director.

Speaking of which, since this is in all likelihood Nolan's last Batman film, I wonder if Warner will convince him to stay on as a consultant/producer (a la the Superman movie).

Doesn't work when TDK explains that the goons who are loyal to the Joker (not the mobsters but the crazies that willingly do his bidding) are former Arkham inmates. Given how deranged they all were, I doubt any of them were released but are in fact the same escaped loonies from the first movie.

If they were gonna throw away a charcter for the opening teaser of TDK, Zaaz (not particularly well used in BB either) would have been a better fit.

For me it's because JPV could be used in a Phantasm-type role. Bruce was meant to destroy Gotham for the League Of Shadows. He turned against them. Currently, Batman is disgraced and wanted for murder. It's a perfect time for a Batman-type character to swoop in and play out the role Ra's Al Ghul intended for Bruce Wayne.

True, what I should've said is to close out the Scarecrow's storyline. Still don't know what use he'd be in TDKR.

I do like the idea of using JPV and I guess in Nolan's more realistic world, that would be the best use. One would have assumed the LOS had a Plan B already in place in case Bruce hadn't joined.

looks a lot smaller than what he was in Inception. He was still big from Bronson, but a bit smaller than his time in Bronson.

Not sure if I'd look too much into that pic. According to IMDb he's currently filming a thriller set during the Cold War called "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" and apparently will be filming a crime drama entitled "The Wettest County in the World". So I doubt that pic will represent what character he'll be playing in TDKR. But who knows...

True, but he is smaller than what he was from Bronson. Took him a while to slim down from it.

And he could just as easily bulk back up enough before TDKR... These actors have top notch trainers who know how to do that sort of thing in a short amount of time (though I'm still not sure exactly when TDKR is even scheduled to start filming). According to an article I read, "The Wettest County in the World" is supposed to start shooting in the spring.

No thanks. Not that she isn't hot but I just don't think much of her as an actress.

Hardy was a giant in BRONSON because Bronson himself wasn't happy with his first attempt at bulking up.

True, I was just saying...he's smaller. He'd be a bit big since Bronson.

Really? is that on the special features (cuz I haven't checked them out) or somewhere? Never heard that part.

So Christian Bale was just on the red carpet of the Golden Globes. He had very long hair and a scraggly beard. I wonder if this is because they are going to film "runaway Bruce Wayne" with very long hair.

Or maybe that's just his style.

Probably for what he's currently filming (did his hair really grow that fast?). Lol, he's got the Jesus look going... recent pics on his imdb page.

Has anyone read when filming is supposed to begin? I know we're over a year away from release (July 2012) but have to think they're gearing up real soon...

I'm not guessing anything. I just said he lost weight.

Also...filming starts in May...all the way up to November. At least that's what Caine was told from Emma Thompson. Also that they would get the script in January.

What the hell did Bale go off with at the awards? I walked right in during his speech.

And if theres one thing I know, Nolan does a great job of hiring shit actresses in the Batman so I expect pt 3 to be no different
