I bet Bane uses a big ass weapon in his final assault! ;)

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

It's slightly subtle, but Nolan's Joker evolves over the film to represent the decline of Gotham.

He starts out as a common criminal, but becomes more insane as he becomes fascinated and obsessed with Batman until finally his motive is simply to cause chaos to mess with Batman. At the end he finds more joy in that than anything, which seems to be closer to his comic book persona.

Anyone else initially see Dr. Manhattan instead of "Stealth Vision Batman"?

Final Assault Bane looks like he stole the mustache from Wilfred Brimley

Will theaters have Batman movie marathons similar to what The Avengers did nationwide.

I know AMC is negotiating to do just that, just like they did with The Avengers. Should cost less too, given there's no 3D and there's only three films (albeit three longish ones). No word on when the marathon will be on sale. It's unlikely that they'll have an IMAX marathon, however, as having only one IMAX screen per theatre will interfere with existing presales.

hrmm...just read off of Empire that TDRK will Wally Pfister’s last movie as Director of Photography. And that he's going to go into directing.

I would be down for a marathon viewing of the Nolan trilogy if anywhere near me did one.

Yeah, read that as well. He's won an Oscar (and been nominated 3 other times, and will likely get another nod for TDKR), it's not too surprising. Should be interesting to see how he does.

How have others faired? One I think of is Jan de Bont who did well with Speed but his others have been pretty crappy.

Barry Sonnenfeld successfully pulled it off. Janusz Kaminsky crashed and burned with his attempt.

Jan de Bont also started strong with Speed, but crashed and burned with Speed 2 and The Haunting.

Not to mention Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life. No, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't a very good movie either.

Don't know if this news or not but apparently it's going to be 2 hours 45 minutes.

That's a decent running time if you ask me. Not too long but not shorter than the previous films either.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Especially given it's the last one and you're introducing 4 new and important characters (Bane, Catwoman, John Blake and possibly Miranda Tate).

I wish the movie was 8 hours long LOL...Or I could watch it on a continious loop and strap me in A Clockwork Orange style.

Which is what? 7-8 minutes?

Nick Martin 06-03-12 02:39 PM

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Typically, yeah. The Batman Begins credits were 9 minutes long.
