Since it's past 9 PM on the east coast I assume it's safe to talk about the prologue.

I wasn't too impressed. It doesn't help that Bane is wholly incomprehensible. But with The Dark Knight prologue, seeing The Joker was such a big deal. Bane does not have the same impact.

I'm still super psyched for the film, though.

Liberals did it.

So it looks like they're making Catwoman the catburglar type character (who I would assume ends up fighting crime too). NICE!

I think this is going to be one of the problems with this prologue compared to The Dark Knight's. The Joker is a much more essential main character to the Batman universe so seeing him in action for the first time in Nolan's world was really exciting. Bane probably won't have that effect because while he's not exactly a minor character he's more a character that dedicated comic fans are going to know while the mainstream audience might wonder who he is (or if they remember him it might be from the god awful Batman & Robin version). At least in my opinion. I still really like the prologue though but it makes me just want to see the rest of the movie even more!!

The new Batman trailer was attached to my Liemax showing of MI4 tonight. Looked good but you cant understand what the fuck Bane is saying.

How is it that you guys can't understand him? I literally heard every word he said fine. Are you guys sensitive or what?

I didn't have much of a problem either and all I've heard of him so far was that crappy bootleg upload not even the official version .

It's good to keep a director in check, especially after a string of massive success, but c'mon. If the guy was going to screw up, he would have done it with Inception.

I got to see the prologue before the showing of MI4, and count me among those VERY concerned if this is how Bane is going to sound. I understood maybe 4 sentences he said.

Can you do me a favor and recap what he said? I've seen it three times in IMAX now and I've been able to pick out a few more things, but most of it was a complete jumble.

I heard about 99% of it. I read about the complaints and so when I saw the trailer I was actively listening and was quite surprised by how clear it was, I was expecting some kinda Darth Vader with his mask off type mumbling.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

I got about 90% of what Bane said no problem. I thought that once the plane sequence got going, it was pretty cool - but the first minute or so is really choppy IMO. Seeing it so large in IMAX, I felt it was really rushed and not in a cool 'let's throw you into the middle of the action' sort of way.... I'm still pumped for the movie but I definitely wasn't as thrilled with the prologue as others seem to have been. Cautiously optimistic.

I'd like to know this as well.

And put me in the camp that had a hard time understanding Bane in the prologue. However, I was so mesmerized by the whole plane sequence on the huge IMAX screen, I really didn't care. I can see it being annoying if it's like this for the whole movie though.

Transcript of the prologue:

Spoiler:
*WB Logo* *Legendary Logo* *DC Logo*
Gordon: I knew... Harvey Dent. I was his friend. And it will be a very long time before someone inspires us the way he did. I believed in Harvey Dent.
*Scene change*
CIA Douche: Dr. Pavel, I'm CIA.
Foreigner: He wasn't alone.
CIA Douche: Uh, you don't get to bring friends.
Dr. Pavel: They are not my friends.
Foreigner: Don't worry. I'll charge for him.
CIA Douche: And, why would I want them?
Foreigner: They were trying to grab your prize. They work for the mercenary. The masked man.
CIA Douche: Bane... Get 'em on board. I'll call it in.
*Scene change*
CIA Douche: The flight plan I just filed with the agency lists me, my men, Dr. Pavel here, but only one of you. *Opens plane door* First one to talk, gets to stay on my aircraft! Who payed you to grab Dr. Pavel?!? He didn't fly so good! Who wants to try next? Tell me about Bane! Why does he wear the mask? A lot of loyalty for a hired gun!
Masked prisoner: Or perhaps he is wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane.
CIA Douche: At least you can talk. Who are you?
Masked prisoner: It doesn't matter who we are. All that matters is our plan... But no one cared who I was until I put on the mask.
*Reveals Bane*
CIA Douche: If I pull that off, will you die?
Bane: It would be extremely painful.
CIA Douche: You're a big guy.
Bane: ...for you.
CIA Douche: Was getting caught part of your plan?
Bane: Of course... Dr. Pavel refused our offer in favor of yours. We had to find out what he told you about us.
Dr. Pavel: Nothing! I said nothing!
CIA Douche: Well congratulations, you got yourself caught.
Soldier #1: Sir...
CIA Douche: ...Now what's the next step of your master plan?
Bane: Crashing this plane!
*Cue Zimmer percussion*
Bane: With no survivors!
*Shit goes down*
Pilot: Mayday, mayday, mayday.
*More incredible shit*
Dr. Pavel: Aaah! Gahaaa! Ahhh!
*Bane touches fellow mercenary on the soldier, stopping him*
Bane: No! They expect one of us in the wreckage, brother.
Merc: Have we started a fire?
Bane: The fire rises.
*DESHAY DESHAY! BASARAH BASARAH!*
Dr. Pavel: Aaah! Ohhh! Ahhh!
Bane: Calm down, Doctor. Now is not the time for fear. That comes later.

I think another reason Bane was so hard to understand was because the background noise and the score were pretty loud which seemed to drown out the dialogue.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Bane has this German-like accent (to me) and his tone of voice is a bit of a contrast to his mask and overall look. He sounds relaxed, almost friendly, but in that arrogant way when someone is overly confident and figures they're untouchable.

its already been stated earlier. The real imax screens are showing the prologue while the amc imax-lite screens are showing the new trailer.

The new trailer looked impressive on the big screen.

And I like that.

it also sounded like a German accent to me too.

I'm glad someone posted the transcript...not so much for clarification of Bane's voice, but to show how poorly written that dialogue is. :)

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

Was that dialogue the vimeo linked prologue?? I didn't even see or hear that.

But anyways,
Spoiler:
"When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die," that was a chilling line. I happy that he has an intimidating voice. The clip where he says, "Take control of your ciiiittaaaaayyyy," sounded really silly. So maybe that was just Tom Hardy messing around.

I was disappointed with Hathaway's casting, still don't like her mask, but this prologue really has me excited for the movie. She looks like Selina Kyle with that big hat.
