I don't think you guys ever actually saw an Asylum movie. While this still doesn't look great, it looks far from Asylum-bad.

I've seen an Asylum flick but I've know what they are and have seen some trailers. This doesn't look like an Asylum flick. The trailer isn't exactly hot..seems very average almost. Interesting things going on but not engaging for me to be enticed.

It doesn't look that bad. It doesn't look great either. Anyone know what the rating is?

Well, since Arnold is a little old to be doing Conan these days, they had to pick someone. I think they could've done alot worse than Jason Momoa for the part. He does the "I'm mad (and crazy) as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore" look pretty well, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I liked him as Ronon Dex in SGA, he was a pretty imposing figure in that series, I'll wait and see how he does as Conan The Barbarian.
I'm assuming the general public won't be quite as critical as the critics in this thread are, so maybe the movie will get its chance in the theaters. -kd5-

It doesn't look Asylum bad. It jusy looks like a SyFy Original with a better budget. There's more good there (a few shots here and there) than I expected but the scales still tip towards shit (whenever anyone speaks).

I thought it looked relatively decent. Nothing earth-shattering, but fun enough in a DVD rental sorta way.
Curious if you all have read the RAH stories or are only familiar with the character through the ONE Schwartzenegger movie (there was never a Conan The Destroyer... don't kid yourself).

Never read any of REH, but was pretty much into the Roy Thomas version from Savage Sword of Conan.

Hahahahaha... is Nispel serious? This looks like a fucking joke. Momoa has all the personality and screen charisma of Channing Tatum's taint.

Re: New Conan movie...a "darker approach"
I read all the Frazetta cover books back in the 70s when they came out. I saw a picture of Conan standing on a cliff looking down at a bunch of guys coming up a trail in a mag and thought it looked cool. Did some research and found out that the Lancer books were out and started buying them. I used to go to a comic book store once a month just to see if the latest was out yet. I have since read all the REH originals as well as new stories by Robert Jordan and some others. I also used to buy the Conan and Savage Sword comics. My image of Conan is a mix of the REHs descriptions and Frazetta's art. The guy in this movie is not massive enough and Conan was no berserker, he was a smart fighter. I'll go see the movie but I have low expectations.
