TDK: IMAX or regular theater?

at this rate, and my busy schedule I don't think, I'll get to see this in IMAX until mid August (hopefully Udvar Hazy won't book Fly Me to the Moon), with the sell outs and trying to get a third friend to join me - seeing this has gotten ridiculous.
Does anyone know the IMAX gross so far?

Weird, I didn't notice the shift at all... I think my theater only had a black bar at the bottom though, so the image was just shifted up instead of being in the middle of the huge IMAX screen

The shift is pretty noticeable, especially when the image is going from 2.40:1 to 1.37:1. Not only that, the IMAX scenes were much clearer and crisp than the 35mm footage.

I loved the IMAX screen myself. But I did have a friend who said he got a headache from the big view, though that may have been because he had to sit closer to the screen because of the big crowds.

Yeah, IMAX is terrible for me if you're stuck in the first few rows. Makes the experience practically dreadful, as far as I'm concerned. I've gotten stuck sitting fairly close for Batman Begins, and it was bad. I've had great experiences for Harry Potter, Matrix Revolutions, and I Am Legend.

I found the shift distracting in a "holy crap" kind of way

I'd vote for regular theatrical showing.
I guess you can call me old fashioned but I dont buy into a few things: 3D movies, Imax screens and HD.
If its not broke dont fix it would be my motto and as far as I am concerned 2D movies, Regular theater screens and standard def TV/DVD works beautifully for me.

IMAX is absolutely beautiful on the right screens (read: not the domes) but is a luxary, 3D has a long way to go still (even the new ones use shades that kill the color, cool 3d effects, but I need color dammit), but I heart HD (SD looks pretty awful at 106").

Imax means nothing to me. It isnt worth more than a quarter more in price than a "regular" screen. And even if they were the same price I'd still probably prefer a "regular" screen. I like movies wide and prefer WIDE over TALL

For the IMAX showings, when the film is not being shown in IMAX, does the size of the screen shrink to the standard movie screen size? Also, when it is in non-IMAX mode, is the picture still much clearer than a non-IMAX theatre?

How old are you? 85??
Or are you just still watching a 19" TV?
Or maybe you're just trolling for attention. (most likely)
DVD : Blu-ray :: VHS : DVD
Seriously, get with the times. You might as well still be watching B&W TV or movies on VHS. It makes no sense.
You're missing A LOT if you're not seeing The Dark Knight on IMAX
