Best Superhero Movie Ever! (new and improved)
#51
DVD Talk Godfather & 2020 TOTY Winner
Wow, I hate to call anything I've just seen "The Best Ever", but The Dark Knight is so much deeper, more profound and more involving than any superhero movie has the right to be -- I had to pick it. I'd round out my top 5 with Superman, Spider-Man 2, X-Men 2 and Batman.

I voted for Superman. It may not be as "awesome" as The Dark Knight, but it is still the superhero movie by which every other is compared.
My top 5:
1. Superman
2. Batman (1989)
3. The Dark Knight
4. Batman Returns
5. Spider-Man 2
6. X-Men 2
7. Iron Man
8. Incredible Hulk
9. X-Men
10. Spider-Man
I agree with some of the others who've mentioned that Batman Begins just didn't do it for me. I'm not a HUGE Christian Bale fan as Batman (Michael Keaton was perfect, IMHO), and I think he takes the rough "Batman voice" a bit to the extreme. But there's no denying that TDK is a FANTASTIC film, and in my mind, wipes out the disappointment from Batman Begins, which again, I thought was just ok.
One thing I'd like to say, though, is I love how Tim Burton directed the action sequences in Batman. He held the camera steady, and just filmed. Now, I know the action wasn't as dramatic and frenzied as in TDK, but, it had more of a "Comic Book" feel to me. One punch, and a bad-guy goes down, and I love that. I get a bit sea-sick watching the camera move, constantly, especially in Batman Begins, during the action sequences.

3. The Dark Knight
4. Batman Returns
5. Spider-Man 2
6. X-Men 2
7. Iron Man

10. Spider-Man

The Dark Knight doesn't make the cut, unfortunately - and I really was hoping that I would see a great, revolutionary Superhero movie. What I got was an overlong, but good Comic Book Superhero movie. Just not a great one. Oh, well. Maybe next time.
