Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
I coulda sworn I read somewhere that the project was dead months-and-months ago for lack of studio interest. But maybe that was the Veronica Mars movie I'm thinking of...

At this point, AD probably has a greater chance of happening because several of its stars have become more well-known than around AD time, but who knows...as I said before, I'll believe it when they actually start shooting. Sadly, Kristen Bell's solo projects (ie When in Rome) haven't done so great... |

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
Today, Will Arnett in an interview with Gawker.tv:
Arrested Development movie updates? We're in the midst of Running Wilde and we're unable to focus on anything else, but it is something we plan on doing. I can't really speak to Mitch's timetable but I would suspect that it's going to be sooner rather than later now, I will say that. David Cross said in an interview that he knows the storyline and it's "awesome." Yeah there's some really funny stuff, some really funny ideas being kicked around. It's Mitch's call on how anything goes. Can you give us a hint? A taste? Something? I really can't, it would be far too premature. But if it goes in the direction Mitch is suggesting, it'll be super hilarious. |
Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
I'm at the point where I don't want to hear anything more until they start shooting. This is just too much of a tease now.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
Hopefully this actually happens this time. But I'll be surprised if we ever get a movie.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
Same old story...
Just leave the show as is. They wrapped everything up fine. |

This will never happen.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
I'm surprised no one posted this snippet from an interview with Mitch Hurwitz last month.
AVC: For all you’ve said about TV, what keeps you coming back to the medium? MH: I spent a few years just producing other writers, and those shows were not successful. I thought, “Will is special so let me try to do this,” but life is choice and choice is loss. Somebody very famous said that. So I chose to do another show here. If it works, then I’ll have at least a bit of a cushion where I can make the Arrested movie, those kinds of things. If it doesn’t, I’ll have to come up with another scenario. AVC: The success of Running Wilde is related to the Arrested Development movie being made? MH: Well, the movie does not pay much. I hate to make it about that, but I’ve needed to make an income—I’ve got kids in school and stuff. They pay me to do TV right now, which is fortunate. So I’m trying to continue to do that while I explore other fields. Unfortunately, TV is top-heavy in the sense that you have to do those first episodes and they take a lot of time. If I can get through the first 13, I think it’ll be much easier to run that business and go and do other things. I don’t know how J.J. Abrams does it, but he’s the guy to learn from, man. AVC: So what is the status of the film? It’s the inescapable question. MH: It is my absolute next priority. I’ve said we’re about halfway through it, but I’m including a lot of the stories as part of that half. It’s the next thing I do as soon as I get a breath from [Running Wilde]. If it gets picked up for a back nine, I’ll have people in place to do this and I can go finish that. It is my biggest creative priority. It’s very frustrating I haven’t had time to do it. I’ve been having to do other things, but it’s time and money. It’s part of, you know, the thing I’ve built for myself here. This house of cards. I have to say, people think I’m more successful than I am, and I appreciate that. I think. I don’t know if I care I, guess. But I’m a working guy. I’m not joking, though, if I had Cocoon, all bets would be off. So, Nielsen families who read that, you know what to do. |
Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
Running Wilde is already on the bubble; Fox hasn't ordered the back nine yet and it's looking like they won't either.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
And since Raising Hope got picked up almost immediately, it seems even less likely.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
I love Arrest and Development. I Can't wait until the movie comes out.

Please God let this movie happen, and soon. I need it. It's not that I just want it, I actually physically need it.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
Exclusive: Hurwitz wants 'Arrested' film out this year Friday, February 4 2011, 9:05am EST By Simon Reynolds, Movies Editor and Morgan Jeffery, TV Reporter Mitch Hurtwitz has revealed that he wants to have the Arrested Development movie in cinemas by the end of this year. Hurwitz, who created the short-lived sitcom, told Digital Spy that he is currently working on a script with Jim Valley that will resurrect the Bluth family for the big screen. "We've started that process and it is our sincere hope to shoot it this year and get it out this year," Hurwitz said. "That's what we're hoping, but a lot of things have to fall into place for that to happen." Asked about the storyline for the Arrested movie, Hurwitz added: "I want to keep whatever it is we end up with as a surprise, which kind of betrays the fact that we might not have the whole thing worked out! "But I don't like to toy with the affections of our fans. They've been so supportive and we're so grateful, so I kind of hate to answer the question until I can say, 'Yep, we've shot it, it opens next week'. Otherwise it feels like we're toying with people and we do not mean to do that. It has just taken a while to get it going." Ron Howard previously told DS that he may reprise his role as Arrested Development's announcer and appear in-person in the movie spinoff. Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, David Cross and Michael Cera were among the cast for the sitcom, which ran for three seasons on Fox between 2003 and 2006. Arrested Development will air on the UK's FX channel beginning February 8 at 9pm. http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/new...-year.html?rss |

Lies!

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
You think Hurtwitz, who is currently unemployed, would, I don't know, want a paycheck.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
I find it hard to believe that he can effectively gather everybody together and rush this out by the end of the year.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
/\ It is awfully unrealistic to expect that. The cast isn't turning down work and waiting by their phones in case Hurwitz finally finishes a script that he has been talking about for the past few years.
