/\ Regardless of the length of the shoot, everybody's availability would need to match up, as it would be a safe assumption that many scenes would necessitate a few, if not all Bluths, at one time.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
Let's talk about it when the script is done. Agreed? \/

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
/\ That hasn't stopped Hurwitz

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
I don't feel nearly as "jerked around" on this project as others seem to because the only person who makes any difference is Hurwitz. If the actors say anything about the status of the project I basically ignore it, and Hurwitz has only been talking seriously about it the last 3 or 4 months. Previously, he said he needed to see whether "Running Wilde" was going to go big or get canceled, which just happened fairly recently. Then he said he was prioritizing it, and now he's saying he's looking to be done by the end of 2011. Doesn't seem that crazy to me. Maybe by the end of 2011 is unrealistic, but I think we'll finally see legit motions on this movie, happening or not, this year.

Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
Why would there be any hurry to get this movie made? It barely had an audience when it was on tv, which was why it was cancelled. As much as some of you may have loved the show, the vast majority of the population didn't give a rat's ass about it when it was on. If this ever gets released I'm sure it'll bomb big time. Why would the studio be in any hurry to release a movie that doesn't have a large fanbase?
I just think back to the tv show Jericho. It was on, bombed and then was cancelled after one season. All the fans campaigned and miraculously convinced the powers that be to put the show back on the air and guess what...it bombed again. Arrested Development seems to have a small (in relation to the total tv watching public) but very devoted fan base, but that's not going to sell movie tickets. |
Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
Family Guy had the same basic story. It's doing fine. How did Serenity do after Firefly?
Point is this will be cheap as piss to make and will sell gangbusters on DVD. I'm not saying a theatrical release is necessary, but a showing on Fox or FX (maybe split over a few nights) would be easy money. |

The same comments you made about AD could be said about Futurama which seems to be doing pretty well in it's resurgence. Family Guy, mentioned above, undeniably came back strong in terms of popularity. The show is terrible, but it makes money. |
Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
In the latest "Arrested Development" movie kinda sorta not really news, Jason Bateman really, really likes the plot:
Jason Bateman Calls 'Arrested Development' Movie Plot 'Incredible' 'It's everything you would want it to be and more,' actor tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian (@ericditzian), with reporting by Josh Horowitz (@joshuahorowitz) Despite David Cross' hilariously pessimistic outlook on the possibility of an "Arrested Development" movie, exec producer Ron Howard wasn't kidding when he told MTV News that an adaptation of the TV series is "a real priority" for creator Mitch Hurwitz. How do we know? Well, aside from just really, really hoping he wasn't kidding, Jason Bateman recently tossed us some info that indicates Hurwitz is very much plowing forward with a script — five years after the show's cancellation. "For the very first time, [Hurwitz] sat me down last week to talk about what he's got and where he's going and what do I think," Bateman told us while promoting his upcoming comedy "Paul." "As a fan of the show, I was vibrating with excitement that he was pulling me behind the curtain." Mind you, Bateman still hasn't seen a single page of a script, but the mere fact that he had a meeting about the project was enough to encourage the actor that, at long last, an "Arrested" movie will actually become a reality. "I can confirm what his update was, which was that he is very deep into the work on it," Bateman said. "The odds of him getting it done before the end of the year, as he says he wants to, are good." So, um, what did Hurwitz actually dish about the story line? Bateman didn't let any details slip out other than to say the concept is "incredible." "It's everything you would want it to be and more," he added. "I really hope he finishes soon so we have a shot at doing it before the end of the year." |
Re: Arrested Development movie confirmed
Since this thread has largely become a repository of the newest stories where actors say it may happen, here's the latest from Jeffrey Tambor (7/7/11):
Before the question was even asked, Jeffrey Tambor had the answer ready, on command after years of inquiry. Yes, the "Arrested Development" movie is going to be made. "I think what's coming down is, certainly, the negotiation over my trailer is what I think is stopping people," he laughed. But really. "No, it's all going straight, everyone's on board, I know they're writing, and maybe next time this year we'll be having this conversation." <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SP_9zH9Q44o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
