^ Itoya makes portfolios you can store prints and page through. I have a couple 18x24 and am pretty sure they also make for 11x17. Pretty inexpensive - maybe $20-$30.

What Geofferson said. 11x17 is the standard size for original comic book art and there are lots of options for portfolios at that size. They would be perfect for 11x17 posters.

On the subject of 11x17 posters, my assumption is that most of what is available out there in that size are unlicensed and as such are of variable quality. Is there an outlet for officially licensed 11x17 reproductions?

That's a good question. And on that note. Is there a certain seller that can be relied on for ptmost quality no matter what? ebay seller, amazon, allmovieposter.com? I see some ebay sellers that has the option of every size per poster.

re: The Film Posters thread

About ten years, when he still had his basement shop on W 14th street, I noticed Jerry Ohlinger was selling a whole bunch of those 11x17 repros. Each one came in one of those heavy mylar sleeves, like you would see used for single baseball cards- albeit much larger and they actually have a hook tab on the back so you can hang them as is.
I picked up a Jaws and King Kong. The Jaws has a "licensed by Universal" at the bottom, but there's nothing for Kong.
Quality is pretty damn nice. The colors on Jaws might have shifted from the original (or not)- but these look like premium studio produced copies, not just computer laser copies someone made in their basement.

Ohlingers is a respected, well known mail order dealer of movie memorabilia. I would check with them for any 11x17 repros if you are concerned about getting quality licensed product and not some knock off. Being specifically a movie material dealer, he may have access to a wider range of titles too.

I'm looking for a good place to buy one-sheet reproductions. Specifically right now I'm looking to buy a Jurassic Park poster. I don't want to spend a lot of money (I'm just going for looks, not collecting), but most of the reprints I seem to find online look like the yellow border of the logo is orange.

Mondo just had a gallery show of Jurassic Park prints that you can track down easy enough.

BTTT

I have my new theater mostly complete and trying to pick out some posters to hang. I have space to hang 10 posters in either 24x36 or 27x40 size and still have a little space for the odd sized stuff, mainly the 12x36 ones. It's been years since I had posters hanging, so I went through everything I had stored in tubes and picked a few out. I'm looking for ideas on a few more, especially stuff that has come out in the past 20 years or so.

So what are some of your favorite movie posters? What do you have hanging at your abode?

Here's the six I currently have up

And will probably pick up a few of these:

Definitely love the Jurassic Park poster. Is that Mondo? No Country and Almost Famous are good too. And I like the Texas Chainsaw one, despite not really liking that film.

All of my remaining posters are in a tube from my movie theater days. I for sure have multiple Dark Knight/Dark Knight Rises posters, the Man of Steel teaser, I believe a Skyfall or Quantum of Solace one that's more "generic 007" and a few others that I haven't looked at in a few years. I know I have at least one where I didn't care for the movie, but loved the poster. I visited my parents last month and they kept my Grindhouse and Watchmen prints in frames.

As a JAWS fan, I have a number of alternate prints up around the condo.

But I have 4 non-Jaws slots that I try to rotate out. Currently, it's HEAT signed by Mann, STREETS OF FIRE signed by Hill, CLERKS signed by Smith, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION signed by Darabont.

re: The Film Posters thread

I finished my basement last year so I finally got to hang up some posters, which I haven't been able to do since my old house 5-6 years ago. So my workplace dug up these frames out of storage and were going to chuck them in the dumpster. I claimed them instead and gave them a nice coat of color shift paint. They are a hair smaller than official poster size so I had to print my own. (I posted these in Otter a few months ago, so some of you may have already seen these)

The other side of the basement is home to "Animation Alley"

^ I like that blue color on the walls. My movie room is still beige and I’d like to go darker. I was thinking like a grey-ish slate color but after seeing your pics, I might go with more of a blue.

re: The Film Posters thread

Thanks. I wanted to go a shade or two darker (closer to navy) for the darker blue but my wife didn't want the basement looking like a dungeon so we settled on these. It turned out well. One thing I'd recommend against is flat paint. I googled the best 'sheen' for a theater and kept finding "the flatter the better" because it doesn't reflect the light. So I went "flat." The "flat" sucks and I wouldn't ever go with it again. You look at the wall funny and it will get a scuff in it. I'd go a notch up to Eggshell.

Yeah, my biggest fear with going dark is making my basement look like a dungeon. I’m considering going darker on the back wall (behind the screen) and maybe going a little lighter on the side walls.

Yes, I believe I had to buy that on ebay after Mondo sold out instantly. Still paid much lower than what they sell for now though.

I'm planning on rotating what I have too, although it's a bit of a pain with the way some of these frames are designed.

Where do you get signed posters? I would love to get some of these but have no idea what that industry is like. I'm guessing the days of through the mail are over, but are there paid signings you can send in for? Are there a few trusted shops that obtain and sell these? Or is it solely ebay or other online marketplaces?

Love the way those prints look. Did you print them yourself on a large home printer, or did you get them printed professionally? I would have thought a commercial printer would refuse the work due to copyright issues.

I went flat black on the front wall and ceiling, really dark gray on the sides and back wall. The room serves nothing more than the theater, so the darker the better.

Lucky enough to work in the industry, as well as attending many screenings with Q&A panels. I try my best to get directors to sign posters of their movies which are my favorite. Cameron (The Abyss) waved me off as well as Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim). My prized is Donner signing an original Lethal Weapon one sheet.

You ever try these Snap Frames? https://snapezo.com/

I have a few for some prints I have hanging up downstairs. They are good except their shipping sucks sometimes and they can get easily damaged. I have a few I am going to try to turn into lightboxes so I can start displaying my posters and swap them out when I can.

Also finding double sided posters - any place besides eBay? There are a number or older ones I would like to get (if they even exist) but some of the eBay prices get out of control

^ Allposters.com has some double-sided posters. I think that’s where I bought my double sided poster of The Rock.

I’m a computer moron, what’s the easiest way to post photos on here from my phone? Do I have to use a hosting site? I’ve tried to post images here a few times and I can never figure it out.

There's a lot of good autograph shops for items that are already signed. They also hold private signings. Most celebrity signings use mini posters (11x17). But you can send-in a full size poster. Here's a few good sites:

Kevin Smith sells signed posters on his website for $40.

I've purchased almost all my posters from emovieposters.com. They're mostly auctions, but there are some available to purchase. You can set up alerts so that you are notified when something on your wishlist gets added to an auction.

I've gotten most of mine in person at conventions or events.

I had them printed professionally... by me. I work in the sign industry. I printed them on foam board on a large format UV flatbed printer. The colors really pop and look better than the real posters I have in frames. I have an idea for one more, and I'll post if I ever get to make it, but for now it's just a gestating idea. It's been on my brain a lot lately so maybe in the near future I'll get to finally make it.

This is awesome. I'll definitely be checking these sites regularly, and already strongly considering a Kathy Bates "Misery" poster. I've done a lot of autograph signings with sports before, but never explored the celebrity side of the industry.

There's a few sites participating in the Kathy Bates signing. CPA Authentics is really good. Leeloo Multiprops is also doing her. Keep in mind if you're going to do a full-size rolled poster, they'll charge extra. It could be an additional $50 to $300+ for bigger stars. And you'll have to send it in. Most companies don't offer posters/photos larger than 16x20. Although, if you contact them in advance, they might be able to special order one for you.

https://cpaauthentics.com/products/kathy-bates
https://leeloomultiprops.com/collections/kathy-bates

Another good site for private signings is Official Pix. They're legit even though their website design looks like it's from 1995. They have Stallone coming up this week. And the Hawkeye cast coming in April.
