Thanks for the suggestion. I actually tracked down the OOP Korean release of it that has both cuts (director/theatrical). Paid a hefty sum for it on the aftermarket and still haven't watched it for fear that it won't be worth the price I paid!! One of these days I'll get to it ... I'm absolutely in love with Ye-jin .......

nice find. I haven't seen the directors cut just theatrical. you need to watch it, it does not disappoint.

I forgot another for my list: In Her Shoes. I normally cannot stand cameron diaz but this film made me smile.

Been mentioned a few times already but I gotta vote for Serendipity

Kate Beckinsale is just lovely in this one. Her character just seems like someone I would want to "hang out with". A nice totally unrealistic story with a nice happy ending. Haven't had a lady in my lair yet that didn't enjoy it.

Well, I just thought it wouldn't be a good idea to show a movie about a woman with a decent career/life getting drunk and knocked up by some doofus she doesn't know. He might scare her off. :)

Nick Danger 01-27-08 05:59 PM

Thelma and Louise.
The Color Purple.
What's Love Got to Do with It.

you just got to make sure that you're not a doofus and it's all good.

Thelma and Louise is not a chick-flick it's a all-out action-flim.
If you watch the bonus feature Susan calls action flims (( the guys )) Dick-flicks!

The_Cube 02-28-08 09:18 PM

I would recommend these chick flicks:

Groundhog Day
The Family Man
V For Vendetta
The Truman Show
Love Actually
Shaun of the Dead
The Lake House
Serendipity
The Terminal
What Women Want
If Only

Superman07 02-28-08 09:19 PM

No love for About a Boy? :(

I skimmed, but I don't think I saw the following mentioned:

Notting Hill
What Women Want

Are people defining a chick flick as movies that have chicks in them??? :hscratch:

I defined a chick flick as a movie with a love story. It is probably not the best definition. Oh well.

I forgot about Notting Hill. Excellent movie.

Last Tango In Paris
Orgazmo
The Borrowers

I haven't seen Streets of Fire (or if I have I don't remember any of it) but True Romance is one of the only acceptable "manly" romance films, if one could call it that.

What other "romance" films do you people think would be acceptable for a guy to own ... or at least, films that a guy could own that wouldn't need endless amounts of convincing and covering up to save whatever manhood is left? :)

Brack 02-29-08 06:48 PM

^^^ Brokeback Mountain.

Brack 02-29-08 07:21 PM

you ask a stupid question.....

you miss the past 3 pages or something? I think everything's covered except for arthouse and foreign films. And if you can't be man enough to enjoy a chick flick, I don't know what to tell you.
