Superman Batman Police Academy (okay, so they all pretty much sucked) A Nightmare on Elm Street Jaws Rocky (just try watching it; '80s cheese) Lethal Weapon (Jet Li couldn't even save it) Fantastic (/ lame joke) Better to quit while you're ahead, you know? L8r |

I'm a big fan of the first, thought the second missed a lot of opportunities and the third mostly sucked. I'm not holding out that a fourth would be any good.

FWIW, that wasn't supposed to be Batman 5, it was a re-invention of the series and was meant to be seen as the first chapter. Technically, it is another first Batman. |
I thought Lethal Weapon 4 kicked ass. Those other 4th films, yeah, they all blew. I wouldn't want to see a 4th Scream flick unless Craven directs it, which I highly doubt he will. I'm not too hung up on Williamson returning to screenwrite, because as an earlier poster suggested, the guy is EXTREMELY hit and miss...with miss being his flavour of choice for the last few years....
MATT and honestly...what is Neve even doing these days to turn down Scream 4...I would think she'd be the first one campaigning to get this made...she could use the paycheck. |

Well, since they are making a 4th Scream, it looks like it's about that time for the appearance of a rapper in the cast. I'm trying to think of which one is gonna make the crossover and show us their skillz.

My god does Disney suck. They drive Pixar away and are now planning a Toy Story 3 which will probably be straight-to-video and no good. They've driven the Weinstein's away and will undoubtedly drive Miramax into the ground with awful sequels and remakes. Just wait and see when Pulp Fiction 2 (with new actors playing the same characters, and straight-to-video) and Scream 4, and Chasing Amy 2 come out. Miramax is dead to me. I'll be watching the Weinstein's new company now.

Scream 2: I actually liked this a little better than Scream when I saw it in 97. I thought the first half of the movie was fairly well done. The theater opening and the sorority house scenes were nicely done. The second half dipped down and became kind of boring. Scream 3: Everything the first film made fun of. This was a big budgeted B movie that reminded me of a Scooby Doo episode. Mediocre & was ok to see once. As for Scream 4, I'm honestly surprised Dimension resisted this long. This is the studio that has churned out countless Hellraiser and Children of the Corn sequels on video, not to mention Prophecy, Mimic, Dracula, and From Dusk Till Dawn. It is Disney after all, and they treat their horror franchises like Disney treats their animated classics... as cash cows to be milked until dry. Hopefully they'll at least try to find talented people to work on this. |

I honestly concur, and respect Neve Campbell's decision to reject the proposal to star in a fourth installment of: Scream. Successfully reprising her role of: Sidney Prescott in the Scream Trilogy is sufficient. Within her goals, she feels it's time to pursue, and portray other versatile characters, and vastly achieve diversity in her acting career.

Scream 4 officially greenlit! Just in time for Halloween, we have some major horror movie news for fans of the popular Scream franchise. Scream 4 has been officially greenlit by the Weinstein Company, almost eight years after the last installment was released in theaters. No other details have been given out, other than the official announcement from the Weinsteins: "The Scream franchise has become a cult classic. Together, all three movies have grossed over $300 million at the box office, just in the United States alone. The fans have been asking for a 4th Scream movie for years and we're finally giving it to them. As far as details go, we're only in the planning stages and we may not get around to it [Scream 4] for quite some time, but rest assured, it will happen." Will the original cast be returning? Is that really the actual blog for the Weinstein company, or a fake? They list Rogue as coming out on October 12th, even though it's not, and also it seems like an odd place to announce the movie being greenlit, as opposed to the usual avenues like the Hollywood Reporter or Variety.

Thank baby jesus this is fake. Scream 2 was bad and Scream 3 was a pile of shit. I have no doubt a Scream 4 would have been beyond terrible. I don't need to see Wes Craven ruin his legacy more than he already has.

Appears it wouldn't matter, but I wouldn't mind a 4... ONLY if they went in a new direction. New cast, new story everything. Almost like a reboot. Something fresh.

The Weinstein Company has confirmed that it is making the fourth instalment in the Scream franchise. The last film in the Wes Craven horror trilogy was released in 2000. It is not confirmed whether Craven will be returning or if writer Kevin Williamson is on board the project. The press release described the fourth movie as "re-starting the Scream franchise", hinting that a new cast and further movies may also be in the pipeline. |
If Craven is directing I'll probably check it out. Didn't really care for either of the sequels though. The first was like a breath of fresh air when it was first released, but the self-referential style of horror it spawned became played out pretty quickly.
