Yeah, I know how they handled it in FOTR. But since they're including him in The Hobbit,

Re: The Hobbit
I only hope that these movies are not three hours a piece this time around. Seriously, a single three hour movie would more than cover the book, and two would cover the book and appendices.

Re: The Hobbit
Yeah, I am curious about how PJ is going to swing this.
The Hobbit is a fairly small book, and pretty much a straightforward adventure/quest tale. It would probably make one movie. I also think it's pretty obvious that there's also going to be a "White Council" plotline that will be brought front and center that was only hinted at in the novel and LOTR trilogy, which might be enough material for a movie in itself. So I'm not entirely sure where the material for the third movie will come from... I believe the filmmakers are prohibited from using anything from The Lost Tales or The Silmarillion, so anything from there is off the table. There have been rumblings that the second movie (when there were two movies) would bridge the gap between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, but if they did, I'm not sure how they could call it The Hobbit when it's going to be stuff like Gandalf and young Aragorn out hunting for Gollum, or the Elves doing stuff; Bilbo was in the Shire enjoying his Old Toby for the period between the two stories. These kinds of stories, by their nature, would have to take place after the events of the book. So, yeah, I'm not sure where they're going to come up with nine or more hours of material if, indeed there are extended editions on the horizon. Even trotting out Tom Bombadil and the Blue Wizards isn't going to add a lot of running time. |

Re: The Hobbit
Kind of Scary.
Scarier than the Elephant Man Orc. A little better than the badass Orc in Fellowship. |
Re: The Hobbit
Badass orc in FoTR? Who was that?
|
Re: The Hobbit
All the orcs in FOTR were short. The Uruk-hai were big bastards, though.

Re: The Hobbit
Oh. Ok. I was thinking...I don't remember one badass orc. You were talking about those guys. I was literally thinking of just one sole Orc.
