Re: The Hobbit
Yeah, that one came in about a week ago. I'd like to take credit for calling it "Lucius Malfoy on disco night," but unfortunately one of my friends did it first.

How about "the cover of an Edgar Winter album"?

Looks like he stole Stan Sitwell's eyebrows.

That's not the look I was expecting for Radagast the Brown, but I guess it sort of suits him... he's the Istari who went "natural."
I wonder if Alatar and Pallando, the Blue Wizards, will make an appearance.

I'm sure a five-part "Wizards" series is being cooked up right now!

Well "The History of Middle Earth" is over 5,000 pages long. There's enough material out there that Peter Jackson's great great great great grandkids could be pumping out movies like a hundred years from now.

Re: The Hobbit
If the Tolkien estate were to ever sell the film rights to any of that, then sure.

HOME is a collection of Tolkien's notes and early drafts with commentary by Christopher Tolkien. I don't see much market for a film version of Lord of the Rings where Aragorn is replaced by a hobbit named Trotter, and hte story cuts off before the end because Tolkien decided to rewrite the whole thing.

Re: The Hobbit
Eh, it's right up there with the whole "tossing a dwarf" stuff from the first films. They are always the "comic" relief.
Looks great to me, though for some reason I am way less excited to see it than I was for Lord of the Rings. Maybe I just don't think they can recapture that magic again. We'll see, I suppose.

if you go to thehobbit.com, you can "choose your own ending" to the trailer.
