I picked it up for cheap because of praise here years ago, but have never been able to finish it. It didn't do much for me.

But I got further into it than Strange Wilderness, so I suppose that means something.

The porn version was better. The sequel, Grandpa's Boy, was even better than that.

Re: Grandma's Boy...a little gem

I received free tickets for an advanced screening years back, and declined. The warning signs to me were: January comedy release, Adam Sandler production, without him in the movie.

But when it came out on video, I saw it with some friends, and was pleasantly surprised...maybe it was the environment, but we all cracked up at a lot of the movie.

I thought this was crap. Maybe I'll have to revisit it.

I had never heard anything about this movie and ended up watching it on cable late a night a few years ago. I went right out and bought the DVD. Found it hilarious.

This movie perfectly mixes stoner and nerd comedy. A big thumbs up from me.

P.S. Strange Wilderness was horrible

I think it's the perfect stoner comedy. My gf and I can watch it anytime. It's also endlessly quotable.

Re: Grandma's Boy...a little gem

A friend and I snuck into Grandma's Boy after watching The Ringer. Two comedies that Fox had sitting on the shelf for years.

What an awful idea that was as I regret that decision every day.

The Ringer was the slightly better movie for the line, "When the fuck did we get ice cream?" Grandma's Boy had no redeemable qualities about it. At all. Like I enjoy some stupid shit, but I'm still boggled how people enjoy it.

Love this movie!

My favorite character was JP.

Kane -"I just don't like techno"

JP - "You would if you had robot ears".

I HATED this movie the first time I saw it.

Watched it again about six months later and found it totally hilarious. It was a movie I watched many, many times during the summer of 2007. Haven't seen it recently though.

I am not the least bit surprised.

At leas the DDR part was funny and it has Linda Cardelini. That must've made it sting a bit less.

Re: Grandma's Boy...a little gem

Someone on this very forum made the accusation that fans of this movie are just poseurs who think they're cool for liking a movie that the general public ignored. All I know is that I enjoyed it. It was comfort food comedy; there's something familiar to someone of my generation about a grown adult wasting his potential because he'd rather underachieve and do something fun than apply himself. Plus, it features one of my favorite party scenes ever. I want to be at that party, watching drunken Linda Cardelini sing "Push It" and Jonah Hill getting his milk direct from the source. I've never gotten to be at a party that fun.

I won't bother to defend it, but I also won't apologize for enjoying it. It's on my ("I-Don't-Really-Feel") Guilty Pleasures list.

Re: Grandma's Boy...a little gem

I tried watching this several times. But it was just.....I don't know. It just wasn't funny like people keep making it out to be. I like some pretty dumb movies like Baitshop, but this was horrible. American Pie was better than this...and AP is total pile. Hell, even Freddy Got Fingered was better than this....whatever this is. This belongs in the same category as Caddyshack, it's that bad. And don't tell me that I don't get it. I do. I just can't understand how anyone can enjoy this. It's....I would rather watch Reb Brown as Captain America than see this again.

I felt the same way when I saw part of it years ago. Turned it off. Now all my friends say it's a classic.

High score, what does that mean?

Did I break the game?

That's the only scene that really makes me laugh. I guess that one part works for me since I had co-workers who would actively compete in DDR.

Thanks for saving me some time. I now know I can ignore any and all movie reviews from you in the future.
