Anchorman, with the exception of Christina Applegate, was pretty funny. Sort of that strange, offbeat humour of a movie like Office Space. On a side note, in the alley fight scene, there is a guy with a baseball bat and no hair. That is Jake Jake The Phone Snake, from the Johnny Dare Morning Show in Kansas City. He answers the phones and books the guests.

District 9 wasn't a movie I particularly cared for, not because it wasn't original -- as it took an old tale (aliens abandoned on Earth), applied modern political issues (the apartheid and South African sentiment) and plot lines and added a very current movie trend (documentary style) to the mix. The real issues with it had to do with jarring style changes, slow plotting, cliches (more the human -> alien aspect than anything), dull characters and it essentially becomes a non-interactive videogame in the final stretch.

Re: Grandma's Boy...a little gem
I'm the movie guy in my family so when someone suggests a flick I've usually seen it or don't waste my time with their suggestion.(yes, a movie snob) My little 'ole Aunt Loretta suggests that I would love Grandma's Boy and lo and behold it's on SHowtime the next night. That movie hit the spot. Very entertaining...loved it. Now I ask my Aunt if she's seen any good flicks lately.

Re: Grandma's Boy appreciation thread
Never heard of this movie before and I happened to catch it on cable a few weeks back as I suprised it came out 10 years ago. I was wondering how it did at the box office and it looked like it bombed in 2006, but judging by this thread it looks like it developed a cult following a few years later.
I honestly didn't find the movie funny at all, but then again I've never been a fan of Adam Sandler's humor (except for Happy Gilmore as that had some very funny parts).
