That script seems like it would have owned everything. I hope they don't try to go camp and cheese. Even as a little kid I knew a MOTU movie should be more along the lines of Conan the Barbarian in style than anything else.

I don't get why they're courting new writers. That script sounded fantastic. They should have been about to begin production by now rather than dicking around and hiring other screenwriters.

That latest article makes me suspect that camp and cheese is the aim given the talk of wanting to make Mattel happy.

So basically, they're going to make another Lundgren-esque movie. Terrific.

That's the vibe I get as there's nothing to be unhappy about in the other script.

He-Man was one of my favorite toys as a kid; I still have all my original figures and castles. That being said, I have little faith that a new film will be any better than Dolph's version. Depending on casting, though, I'd prob still go see it.

What's sad is that the script reviewed here would have made for an excellent movie (basically one that would've lived up to Frank Langella's and Billy Barty's performances in the last movie).

Live Action Masters of the Universe Targets Jon M. Chu

In development for some time, the new big screen take on Masters of the Universe appears to have found a potential director. Deadline reports that Jon M. Chu is in talks to helm the live action project for Sony Pictures and Escape Artists Entertainment.

Sony and Escape Artists' Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch have been developing the property, based on the popular Mattel toy line that originated in 1982 and spawned several animated series along with a 1987 live-action film.

The film follows Prince Adam, who transforms into a warrior called He-Man and becomes the last hope for a magical land called Eternia, ravaged by technology and the evil Skeletor.

Chu has already has some experience in the world of 80's cartoon properties. His G.I. Joe: Retaliation is scheduled to hit theaters on March 29, 2013.

Triple H would be awesome as He-Man.

Why do we need different actors? Prince Adam and He-Man look exactly the same, except for what they're wearing.

Not if they take their cues from the 2002 series.

Hope they get a better face for Skeletor this time, the mask they used in the first movie looked too much like a cheap/silly mask to me instead of an actual face. Other than that the first movie was pretty good if not dated by todays standards. Will be interesting to see how a remake looks. -kd5-

Cheap silly masks were cutting edge technology at the time!!

The thing that pissed me off about the original movie is the total "they get transported to our world" cop-out. I'm sure that was to keep the budget down, but it was lame.

I bet Skeltor's head will be CG'd. At least in the recent series, it looked like his skull was floating inside his hood.

Part of me kinda digs a potential movie, part of me is can't wait to see the train wreck, and most of me misses my He-man toys.

Not vintage, but updated figures of the classic designs. The line is dying down, though a movie would probably renew interest.

Ok, but who watched that? I seriously don't remember an uptick in He-Man's popularity in 2002. Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing the toys, but I had completely forgotten it existed until you just mentioned it.

Mine were stolen by my aunt who exchanged them for drugs or drug money. At least that's what I've been told. I wasn't told as a kid though. The moral is that He-Man=drugs.
