She is very sweet and it would have been nice to see more of her, but "most interesting female"? Eh.

As much as the coincidences annoyed me in Spider-Man 3, there's no way I'm going to listen to anything the writer for Charlie's Angels says...

Third viewing impressions:

The beginning of the movie seems jagged and rough, but not any more so than any other movie trying to have a lot of exposition in a short amount of time. I thought Superman Returns and Batman begins both had really awkward openings.

Venom really does seem like an afterthought, although I thought the movie did a good job of contrasting Peter and Eddie. Eddie is what Peter COULD be if he really wanted to, but in the end, no matter how much Peter suffers through, he's always better off.

Really, what doesn't bother me though as a long-time comic fan are the changes to the storylines. Most of those stories are really dated. Believe me when I say that the rose-tinted lenses that comic fans wear are worse than that of Star Wars fans (or for a more prescient example, Transformers fans).

John August is simply put a fucking hack. Not only that, with most of those films, he only got credit for as he submitted the first draft of the screenplay. I know for the bigger films (such as Starsky and Hutch, Dukes of Hazzard, and Charlie's Angels), his screenplays have gone through the rewrite factory -- and those writers didn't get jackshit.

I get the impression that if they ever introduced the Black Cat into the movies, it would be Ursula who would be her.

This isn't an X3 thread, but I strongly believe that X3 DID betray the characters and what Singer had been trying to do. You can check out the X3 thread for more detailed reasons.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I liked the little wink wink with

Spoiler:
the framed copy of the Bugle that said "Doc Ock Still At Large."

Yep, most interesting. Mj is your typical Damsel in distress and Gwenn Stacy is barely in the movie enough for me to care. Ursula has been in all 3...nope in the last 2 only and every scene she's been in has been great.

What do you do? Why should I listen to you? Or anybody, for that matter?

As long as you can make a point and back it up with strong reasoning, I don't care if you did script-doctoring on Charles In Charge.

That was the first article that they printed about him after his accident. That's why he was in his hospital gear post him flipping that car. By all accounts, Doc Ock is dead.

Ahh ok, I thought so. Just found it a little odd that it was centered in the shot.

Well, you could also say that about a lot of the Spider-man characters, and comics in general. I think a lot of people who are comics fans or just casual fans of the characters really haven't read enough to really grasp just how the vast majority of the stories were outright bad. Updates are good.

After taking in all of the mixed reviews, I took your advice and saw this movie last night.

Spoiler:

I had such low expectations that I enjoyed it. It's clearly not as good as 1 or the high water mark for all comic movies 2, but its a pretty good rendition of a comic movie and I enjoyed it. it was a tad long, Raimi does not do Spidey humor too well, and this film suffered from that even more, Gwen Stacey was a non factor, MJ was fine, although I am personally tiring of Dunst. I was happy to see the end of the Goblin storyline and Topher Grace was pretty decent. I enjoyed the Sandman bits a lot, and thought that was handled pretty well.

I really did not care for all the unmasked Spidey bits, but it is what it is.

For all those fans of 1 and 2 that were on the fence like myself,
go see it, its worth the price. Spidey is still intact and its fun to watch that on the big screen.

I loved the Stan Lee cameo as well..

'nuff said.

He's alive. Even though that was an old article, the intent was clearly communicating that, unlike Burton, Raimi understands the medium's dynamic.

Unless there's a body and it is poisoned, stabbed, shot, drowned, castrated and cremated then the villain is still out there.

I thought this movie was incredibly fun. Like the Fantastic Four, I'm entertained with the concepts, but take the character with a grain of salt. Things like Batman and Judge Dredd (and Nemesis the Warlock) I get sticky about. It's all tied to how much I was a fan of the source material. I stopped reading Spiderman when I was about 15, but the memories are nothing if not fond.

I didn't even really mind the emo Peter Petrelli ...err Parker.

...or the simplest explanation, just another sensationalist headline from Jameson to sell papers.

I think the Stan Lee cameos in ALL the Marvel movies cheapens the films just a bit. Seeing him is getting real tired.

Well, he's bound to die at some point. Then we can look forward to computer generated Stan Lees inserted randomly throughout the Marvel films.

You should be thankful you see him...he's the reason why it was made in the first place.

Why? I don't want Lucas in every Star Wars film. It's cool that he's still kicking and all, and I liked the cameos the first few times, but it's getting a little old. At least this probably means he got the royalties they owed him.

Bad comparison. You had to be a geek that kept up on all the Star Wars news to even know he had a cameo in the film. Otherwise, you couldn't have even picked him out in the scene.

Stan Lee on the other hand was noticeable in every scene he was in, front and center.
