There's an older movie from the 1950s called "War of the Colossal Beast" that features pretty much the entire original movie (called "The Amazing Colossal Man") in a flashback.

The sequel is available on DVD, but due to rights issues the original is not. But it doesn't really matter because about 90% of the first movie is shown in the second--if you own the sequel, you pretty much own the original.

Come to think of it, there's a lot of re-used SF stuff throughout the nine movies.
The opening scene from The Search for Spock is a replay of crucial footage from Wrath of Khan.

It allowed the filmmakers to put out the sequel quickly at a very cheap cost while the original is still hot AND advertise cast members who might not be available.

This practice is more rare now, since word of mouth spreads quickly on the Internet. Before, you'd paid your cash before you realized you were duped because low-budget horror cheapies were never reviewed by any critic.

The Two Towers begins with Gandalf's fight with the Balrog from Fellowship of the Ring, but this time shifting it to Gandalf's perspective as he plunges down the chasm.

Return of the King features a brief flashback to Boromir's death from FOTR.

Blade II has a brief recap of the first film as well as a flashback to Whistler's fate.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes repeats the ending of Planet of the Apes. Dracula, Prince of Darkness begins with the ending of Horror of Dracula. Taste the Blood of Dracula reshows Dracula impaled on the cross from Dracula Has Risen From The Grave. The Mummy's Tomb has a long flashback sequence of The Mummy's Hand. Others I think may have, not sure: Dr. Phibes Rises Again, Vengeance of She.

Didn't they use the Genesis foootage from Star Trek 2 several times in the other movies?
I believe they used the Enterprise exploding from Star Trek 3 in 4.
