Superman was for all intents and purposes a god and could have had any woman on the planet, but what he longed for more than anything was to be human, to feel he belonged to this world that was his only home. Lois represented that to him.

Oh don't be fooled by her looks Rashida Jones has a LOT of personality. Just watch The Office Season 3 or "I Love You Man" to see how witty, sarcastic, bitchy, and cute she can get...

That's why I keep bringing up Rashida Jones as well. in "I love you, Man" She totally has that awesome wit that is ESSENTIAL for LL. She's pretty but she ain't nobody's bitch either. She's an independent and strong personality. LL from SR totally killed me in the worst way.

It's Michelle Rodriguez. Period.

I'm down with the Rashida love.

Honestly that's the best suggestion since Kristen Davis, IMO. (back when Returns was a blip on the horizon). I still think she would be awesome, but the age thing is definitely a factor now if we are talking franchise potential. She could have pulled it off for Returns, and even this film, but I'm not sure after that.

Do you guys honestly believe a woman in her early/mid forties couldn't pull off Lois Lane?

Really?

No at all. I just can't think many actresses that are of that age. Hell...I'd go w/ Carla Gugino if you want a mature and strong looking woman as LL.

Eva Green for Lois Lane. :)

I really like Superman Returns, and i've never cared that much for the original films. Blasphemy I know.

Funny enough, when I played Hollywood Mogul game, I often cast Eva Green as LL. She could work I guess.

Pull it off? Yes, but I'm not a producer looking to attract a young audience with franchise potential. We will never see a Lois in her 40s(character or actress portraying her) these days.

It's been an interesting week or so for the developing story of Superman. After an initial list of potential directors was revealed, Darren Aronofsky was added to the list. Today, we see Robert Zemeckis bandied about as another possible contender for the center seat. "Even though Zemeckis once seemed comfortable directing pictures exclusively in the 3D performance capture process he pioneered in 'Polar Express', 'Beowulf', 'A Christmas Carol' and the upcoming Beatles pic 'Yellow Submarine', Zemeckis has lately been rumored to be kicking the tires on such live action projects as 'Superman'," writes Deadline's Mike Fleming. As that list of recent projects suggests, Zemeckis has not made a live action film in ten years.

Hmm. If it's Back to the Future Zemeckis, I can see it working. If it's "I like to spoil everything in the previews and try to evoke emotions from a lost volleyball" Zemeckis I'll be less excited.

God no. I would rather deal with Superman having a kid than a Lois Lane with either of their annoying accents.
***Assuming that you weren't joking, of course.

Oh, come on. Cast Away was solid and Hanks did an amazing job with Wilson. Was that Zemeckis' last live action film?

I had to check, but holy shit, it was! It's been too long, Zemekis, put the toys down and get back to work!

It was Castaway, 10 year ago.

The book is only 2 years old, and already needs additional chapters

Older Lois Lane: Carla Gugino, Ashely Judd, or Kristen Davis

Jon Hamm might look Superman, but having seen his funnyordie version of Lex Luthor, I think he would be better in that role. I know it was comedic, but he seemed to know how to play the corporate Lex to a T.

However...

I have said it before and I'll say it again about what I want with a new Superman: something new! Give us a villain other than Luthor, Do something other than have Luthor try to acquire "beachfront property" via triggering natural disasters. Just try something new!
