GIANTROBO,
ummmm...I don't see this as a D.C. versus Marvel thing.....it's only Batman and his villains whom aren't superpowered-genetically powered freaks. Most of Marvel and D.C. characters are super-powered beings, genetically-altered accidents, aliens, etc... The appeal of the Batman universe - heros and villains - is because it could be realistic |

Let me make that clear before this gets out of hand. :p The appeal of the Batman universe - heros and villains - is because it could be realistic |

I'll agree that Clark especially didn't have many lines, but if you look you can see how much he is stuggling with under the surface where's Clark in situations with Lois. Plus I get goose bumps every time when he tells her goodbye on the plane. :o
Anyway, back to the kid. I can't agree more how important it is to kill the kid. In fact, I think I'll one-up you. It needs to be a joint venture between somebody (Darkseid?) and Luthor. Superman can think it's Darkseid and go to town on his ass, without killing him (cause he's God like that ;) ), and then still have to face him another day. The better parts come when a) Lois finds out (per above) and, b) he finds out Lex had a hand in it. Now talk about emotional struggle while trying to refrain from killing him and keeping your morals intact. I could use a quip and smirk from Clancy Bro...I mean Lex right now. Man, how awsome could the next film be?! Of course since we both think this you do realize it won't happen, right? Now if only those Smallville writers would listen to me... As for Smallville... well let's just say my feelings on this show can be summed up thusly: If this were a 13-episode-a-season show on cable, it probably would be one of the best television comic adaptations ever. This was made abundantly clear to myself and one of my roommates when we were watching the season 5 finale. The "Previously on" took 5 minutes and when it was done, my roomie (who has watched every episode with me) turned and said, "Yo, that show looks awesome." The beginnings rock. The endings rock. It's the 11 episodes of sorority-vampire-infested, heavy-handed-message-preaching, 2-fast-2-furious-pete-centric, kryptonite-laced-chewing-gum, lana-learns-karate crapfest episodes that sink the show in the shitter. Still fun, though :D -Doc |
Do people really want to see Superman fight an alien like Doomsday? I can't help thinking that unless it was done with models and figures as seen in ALIENS or JURASSIC PARK, that it would look ridiculous.
Maybe he needs to battle some super-computer... |

I'm surprised that there is even a grouping of Marvel fanboys vs. DC fanboys. It's all good!
GIANTROBO, I have nothing against heroes/villains with no superpowers. I just personally don't like the villains of Batman - The Joker, The Penguin, Riddler, Mr. Freeze just remind me that they are a bunch of crazy retarded clowns to me. And they all go to the same Mental Institution. It's ridiculous that "every villain" has to be considered crazy and has to join the same mental institution. Not all villains are crazy. Some are normal, some are evil, some deserve prison, some deserve death, and so on. But it's so cliched in the Batman universe that they have to be sent to "the Asylum." |

I apologize for the nerd-out, but that's not true. The Penguin went to Black Gate prison along with Mr. Freeze (depending on issue, it varies). The Penguin, in fact, isn't even a "top-tier" villain anymore. He's a nightclub owner on parole who runs a black market. Batman usually only interacts with him when he needs information. The Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow and a few others are in Arkham because, well, they are fucking insane. This allows for those clever "Walk-by" panels where other inmantes are visible when heading toward the target cell, and it logistically offers an explanation as to why a serial-mass-murderer like the Joker has never been executed by the State. Call it lame if you want, but these are tortured, tragic characters that offer real, psychological terror as well as pathos, as opposed to, say, someone who has a robotic scorpion tale that shoots acid grafted to his spine. ;) -Doc -Doc |
Right! And -some- of Batman's villians are often, an insane tortured "Yin" to Bruce's better managed, but still insane tortured "Yang".
Hell, even Comm. Gordon in Batman Begins alluded to the fact that Batman's appearance in Gotham seemed to be the beginning of the "Crazy Costumed Bad guys"...like the Joker. The many Bat-cartoon series over the years have had Penguin as an arms/black market dealer. Lex in the comics and in Smallville is a greedy corporate prick, and not some skulking low life running around with Prison cell mates and living in sewers as he's been portrayed in the Superman films since 1977. THAT is the Lex we need to see in any new Super-films even if he isn't the main bad guy. Bottom line, any new Superman film will need a powerful bad guy so we can see SUPERMAN SMASH!!!!** **Sound familiar? :p:lol: |

I'm not taking shots!
I'm speaking truth. :p Nah, I like all comics, I just like some more than others. |
Lex Luthor is best as a guy who is behind the scenes and controlling things. You want a good Lex Luthor? Look at the Justice League Unlimited cadmus story line. It's brilliant when the government itself is using Lex Luthor's help to trap the Justice League. To even go further, Lex Luthor as an evil President works wonders.
As for the Marvel vs DC thing. All I am going to say is Marvel heros are all "freaks". It just grows old. They're mutants. They got bit by a spider. A gamma bomb. Blah blah. Now don't get me wrong, I use to love X-Men and SpiderMan, but with all the story lines as of late (House of M, Brand New Day, Spider Clones) it just all got tiresome. |
aintitcool.com is reporting rumors that Singer may be out, and "Incredible Hulk" director Louis Leterrier has been asked. Take it for what you will...

With respect to the AICN "information," I would take it all with a huge rock of salt. The "maybe" terms and this grammatically indecipherable sentence: "We've been hearing hints for a while not what Bryan Singer's SUPERMAN RETURNS sequel might take a radically different form than many of us first thought...including not having Singer on-board at all" all seem like just wild speculation and rumours to me.

I for one wouldnt be sad to see Singer go. I enjoyed the 1st Xmen but havent liked anything hes done since.
|
I don't know. I did hate the spidey stories, but I loved House of M...my favorite series since Age of Apocalypse...only difference is that the 'off-shoot' books sucked in M.

I need to get out more! ;) But all comics have their moments where Hillary Clinton's suspension of disbelief is a necessity. |
