Why the hell won't Warner just do a straight up sequel with Singer and Routh back? Why do they want to do another fucking re-boot? I thought Returns worked just fine and with a better script, the sequel could be even better. Are they scared to commit to them again because Returns barely broke even?

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
I'd like to see a 1940's type period piece re-boot.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
All in favor of a reboot. Hope they keep Routh, my main complaint with him was that he looked a little young and his acting wasn't the greatest. At this rate it'll have been 4-5 yrs since they filmed the first so those things should be better I think... and hopefully he bulks up even more.
I wonder if Singer actually finished his extended edtion? I guess he won't be using the opening for the planned 2nd movie, so hopefully we'll get a EE blu-ray whenever the new one comes out. |

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
Agree, Routh looks pretty good.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
wow...amazing how somebody can change in so little time. Yeah, he looks physically proper for Supes.

I would love to see the Wachowski siblings do the sequel.

Warner execs have said they want Routh back and he wants to be back, so I assume he will be. As far as Singer and "Returns," I don't understand why he should get another chance as he created a sub-par film.
The first X-men movie wasn't that great, but he followed that up with a much better sequel. I think he can do the same thing with this series. |
Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
My massive conflict, besides it being boring and not really Superman type fun, with Returns is....wtf do you do with the kid? How the fuck do you reapply that character in a sequel and not make it crappy?!?!
Let's all admit...Supes needed something new, and while I'm kinda worried with the Wachowskis behind it, I hope it at least treads in a good direction. |
Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
Not too crazy about the Wachowski bros, but as long as they keep Routh, I'll be interested. Can't think of anybody who has the Superman "look" down as much as he does. Esp. in those posted pics. Seems he's been keeping in shape as well.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
I hope Superman talks a lot more and has some of that quirky Boy Scout nature down

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
I think the Wachowskis ARE the ones to make a Superman movie. Great news...remember the battle between Keanu vs. Smith at end of Revolutions? Now just replace that with Supes vs. Darkseid. Just awesome! Actually, the climax episode of Justice League Unlimited features a very Watchowski-type brawl of Supes vs. Darkseid just like at the end of Revolutions...

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
Were the Wachowskis what Mark Miller kept talking about having a great director to work on Superman? Well not it's directors..but...did he mean them.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
I don't get it. Mostly everyone is asking for a more fun and more action packed Superman yet they don't want the Wachowski's directing? The creators of the one of the most influential action movies ever made?
I'm fine with this. I'd rather have them not write it but even if they did, it wouldn't be too bad. Yeah the Matrix sequals got overly preachy and philosophical but they did a good job with V for Vendetta and they had to play off the source material for that as they would have to do with Supes. |
Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
I thought Routh was pretty portrayed Superman well. Superman Returns is not as bad as everyone thinks it is. But I would have to agree that the part of the kid would be a hard thing to follow/develop.

It is cowardly of WB to back away from Singer's concept just because it grossed less than expected. |
Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!
WB isn't gonna give Superman to the Wachowski's.
WB gave them Speed Racer and a $120 million dollar budget. It grossed $43,945,766 domestically, around $50,000,000 foreign. Wachowski's won't be doing Superman. |

My questions and thoughts exactly.
It is cowardly of WB to back away from Singer's concept just because it grossed less than expected. It would be a disaster if Singer did a sequel connected to his first one, which would involve a creepy Lois-stalking Superman, Superboy, overracting Lex and his real estate schemes, and kryptonite. How can anyone like the climactic showdown in the first film - a couple goons & Kumar kicking Supes, Lex and his kryptonite knife. It's like a typical alley-way fight in a bad film. I love Singer as a director, but he should stay away from this movie. |
