Same here. My theater-going has steadily declined since 2003 due to no Must-sees, but next year looks like it will pick up with that line up.

I think Pirates will be king again next year...I dont know, I think people are starting to be a little weary of comic movies, but we'll see. I am most excited about HP, Ratatouille, FF, and the The Bourne Ultimatum

Spiderman 3 all the way.

Other than that, there are some great movies like Transformers, Fantastic Four, Shrek, Simpsons, Pirates, but Spidey's on top of that list.

WOW!!! The summer of sequels!!!

Next summer is gonna be crazy!!!

I can't wait for Spidey 3, Shrek 3, Pirates 3, Fantastic Four 2, Live Free or Die Hard, Transformers, Harry Potter, AVP, and Rush Hour 3!!! 1408 has some promise as well!

There are potentially 5 $300+ million box office takers in that group (Spidey 3, Shrek 3, Pirates 3, Harry Potter, and Transformers)!!! Ok, the word on Transformers so far is not too good . . . but if Bay and Co don't alienate too much the 25-35 year old male fanbase out there who grew up with the cartoons, this movie could break box-office records . . . what's Titanic??? 1 Billion dollars!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

As for Ocean's 13 (Ocean's 12 killed it for me . . . but I hear they're taking this back to a Vegas setting, so maybe some potential there).

Evan Almighty? (not so sure about Mr. 40 year old virgin in this role). Also, not too hyped for Bourne Ultimatum . . . how about giving us some Rounders 2??? No Limit Hold 'Em is huge . . . the movie is a bigger hit now then ever . . . the sequel would break box office records!!!

I've been looking forward to next summer even before this summer began. Now after seeing everything this summer had to offer, I feel justified in looking past it at the beginning. Bring on "Spiderman 3" and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."

People are only weary of shitty to mediocre comic book movies, of which there have been plenty. X-Men 3 did well this year because the previous films were decent. Superman was building from zero momentum and had a very large hole to get itself out of...

Fantastic Four was made for fairly cheap and turned out being just above mediocre IMO. I don't know if it will find an audience though. The first film certainly doesn't have the sort of rabid devotees that the first X-Men or Spiderman had before their first sequel was released. I expect Fox to put down more money and find out too late that the audience isn't there.

Both of the previous Spiderman films have made back their money in spades because they were good to excellent. I have a feeling this one will also beat Pirates, especially since it will have been a longer time since we last saw Spidey. (I also found Pirates 2 to be a bit overstuffed, although the action sequences were excellent.)

Ocean's 13 is not only a return to Vegas, but is also supposed to be a return to a more humorous tone (a la Ocean's 11) and less the-big-heist tone (a la Ocean's 12).

Evan Almighty only has Steve Carell reprising his role from Bruce Almighty and his part in Bruce was easily the funniest bit for me. Plus, the plot for this one sounds fun -
Spoiler:
he has to build an ark like Noah
. Not to mention, Carell's other role as a newsperson was also filarious.

I've heard no buzz on the next Harry Potter and the director is a no name... yet - this film will make or break him.

Transformers will make back its money, if only because of the number of non film-geeks who grew up with Transformers and who will take their children (even though it will be too dark for the younger ones, no doubt). Michael Bay films also, much to the chagrin of some, usually make back their money with a little to spare.

Journey 3-D - I don't know, Steve Perry in 3-D? I don't know how many people will want that...

The Bourne Ultimatum seems to have no buzz and the general public is unaware that it's coming down the line. Usually the buzz would've started by now. But then again, it hasn't even started filming and won't start until Jan 2007 at earliest... Which means it might be a crunch to make the release date, unless they scale down the effects. (Not that you could see them in the second one anyway, thanks to Greengrass' non-stop verite camera work - blech.) And if the filming delay was caused by scripting issues... That's not such a good sign.

Ratatouille looks cute but I need to see a longer trailer to get real perspective on its chances. The public is being inundated with CG cartoon movies right now, but the Pixar name alone will draw in a sizeable, if not substantial crowd.

The Simpsons certainly has an international fan base, but it better be damn good if it wants to make super bank. It will make money, that's a given. It will probably make back its money. How much profit is the question.

Die Hard 4 - completely skeptical but open to being surprised. The Trailers will make or break this film. If it looks stupid, it will do M:I 3 type business. A lot but not enough to be considered an undeniable hit.

And the inevitable slew of low budget horror films and low budget, low brow comedies will make a nice chunk of money as well.

Those are my predictions. I'm first curious whether or not all of those will actually make their release dates. Secondly, I'm curious how my predictions will stand up.

I'm definitely excited for Spider-Man 3 and Pirates, and I think my vote would go towards Pirates to take the box office crown, edging out Spidey and Shrek. A lot of people here like to bash Shrek, but i love the movies and it'll be as huge as the last two.

I think Fantastic Four 2 will at least break the 100 million mark. Personally it felt like the general public reaction was positive.

Spiderman is #1 just on my anticipation list (probably most others too) for one reason: Venom.

Transformers is a close second. I dont care if it strays, its still gonna rock.

Please though, for the love of God, change the Die Hard title. I'm begging you.

I'm quite certain that while there's no chance Spidey 3 is going to tank at the box office, it is going to be a mediocre picture. Peter Jackson, with ROTK, pulled off an excellent third film for a trilogy. But sadly, he is the exception, not the rule.

I *never* go to see movies in the theater, because well...it's too damn expensive, people are annoying, and I love Netflix. Plus, I'm not seeing a movie for $11, and then buying it for $16 release week. I just spent $26 on one movie. Therefore, most of those I'll just be buying on DVD or Netflixing. But I will definitely (without a doubt) be seeing Pirates of the Caribbean in the theater. And I know my boyfriend will definitely want to see Spiderman 3 in the theater, so I'll be there for that one, too.

Transformers is #1 on my list with a bullet. No question.

I was very disappointed in spidey 2 so I don't even know if I will see 3.

Pirates 3 definitely looking forward to it.

Harry Potter definitely.

Any pixar definitely.

Die hard 4, bourne, F4, and rush hour 3 are all strong possibilities depending on how they look.

I was all excited for the Halo movie but realized that's not until 2008.

Too bad the summer seems to be frontloaded. All the huge stuff coming out in May.
