Unless "Aliens vs. Predator: Survival of the Fttest" is a film about the evolution spanning generations of how the two races adapted to their environment through the passing down of dominant traits, that's a misleading title that will only reinforce misconceptions of Darwin's theory to the masses.

I'm not too big on "popcorn" movies. . .

Only Live Free and Die Hard really interests me.

Jackson is not the exception to the rule.

wow this could be perhaps the BEST summer ever for movies:

May 4
Spider-Man 3

May 18
Shrek The Third

May 25
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

June 8
Ocean's 13

June 15
Fantastic Four and the Rise of the Silver Surfer

July 4
Transformers

July 13
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

July 27
The Simpsons Movie

August 3
The Bourne Ultimatum

August 10
Rush Hour 3

and at least 3 others on that list sound pretty good too (have to see trailers or something first).

Yeah, it pretty much does, especially coupled with the 94% at RottenTomatoes and #4 on the Top 250 at IMDb. Of course nothing will stop people from saying the darndest things on internet message boards.

I know this has been discussed in a different forum, but I STILL think that the summer of '89 was, and still is, the summer to beat.

In one season, we got an Indiana Jones, a James Bond, a Star Trek, the first Batman, a Freddy AND a Jason, a Lethal Weapon, a Dead Poets Society, a Bill and Ted...

Spider-Man 3 - Definitely

1408 - Maybe
Shrek The Third - Probably
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - I saw the second one I guess I have to see this too to see how it comes out
Ocean's 13 - Rental
Surf's Up - No way
Fantastic Four and the Rise of the Silver Surfer - Probably even though first one was mediocre since I used to really like these comic books
Evan Almighty - Maybe, but first one was kinda lame
Live Free or Die Hard - Positively
Ratatouille - Pixar has yet to let me down, so yes
Transformers - No, absolutely 0 interest
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - For sure
Journey 3-D - Not likely
The Simpsons Movie - Probably
The Bourne Ultimatum - Yes
Underdog - Wait on reviews but probably
Alien VS Predator: Survival of the Fittest - No way, no how
Nancy Drew: The Mystery in Hollywood Hills - Uh, no...unless my wife trades me Die Hard or something like that for it
Rush Hour 3 - I will continue my streak of never seeing a Rush Hour movie

On seeing them in theaters:

Spider-Man 3 - Despite "It needs more action" reshoots, I still have faith it'll turn out good. Hopefully it won't be obvious. That said, I'll be there opening weekend.
28 Week Later - Maybe
1408 - Doubt it.
Shrek The Third - Probably not (didn't like 2)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - Probably not (didn't like 2)
Ocean's 13 - Maybe
Surf's Up - Probably not.
Fantastic Four and the Rise of the Silver Surfer - Probably not.
Evan Almighty - Maybe.
Live Free or Die Hard - Probably not.
Ratatouille - Probably not.
Transformers - Yep.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Probably.
Journey 3-D - Probably not.
The Simpsons Movie - Yep.
The Bourne Ultimatum - Yep.
Underdog - Probably not.
Alien VS Predator: Survival of the Fittest - Probably not.
Nancy Drew: The Mystery in Hollywood Hills - No.
Rush Hour 3 - Maybe.

When you notice the next 3 films on imbd's list AFTER that are Casablanca, Seven Samurai, and Schindler's List...you realize how little that list means.

I don't consider those movies to be mediocre either, but since you do, I won't argue the point. We'll just have to agree to disagree. You really should give Seven Samurai another go sometime though, and try to keep an open mind about it.

I think you missed my point. The 3 films ranked BEHIND... AFTER.... NOT AS GOOD AS THE ONE PREVIOUS.... are Casablanca, Seven Samurai and Schindler's List. Those films stomp the living shit outta ROTK but since imdb's votes are 95% internet geeks, ROTK is #4. The imdb list is meaningless.

1. 9.1 The Godfather (1972)
2. 9.0 The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
3. 8.9 The Godfather: Part II (1974)
4. 8.8 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
5. 8.8 Casablanca (1942)
6. 8.8 Shichinin no samurai (1954)
7. 8.8 Schindler's List (1993)
8. 8.7 Buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Il (1966)
9. 8.7 Pulp Fiction (1994)
10. 8.7 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
11. 8.7 Star Wars (1977)
12. 8.7 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
13. 8.7 Rear Window (1954)
14. 8.7 The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
15. 8.6 12 Angry Men (1957)

Tell me which of those films you think ROTK is better than.
