Quote: come on Josh.... i know you liked the Bane from batman and robin
I can't believe what they did with him.

His story is so cool. He didn't just break Batman's back, he broke his will, his spirit, his core beliefs. He sent every lunatic out of Arkham, and exhausted Batman so much that he barely had to do anything to beat him. Afterwards, Bruce Wayne hardly wanted to live, let alone continue to fight crime.

Now THAT is a villain.

He also made the incredibly badass (and isightful) conceipt that he COULD NOT beat Bats in a straight fight - hence the long drawn out plan to tire him out. Awfully aware of his own limitations for a comic book villain.

That's why I think it could be a good third movie. It could also give a nice way for Bale to transition out of the role.
Quote: Reading Nolans essay/eulogy just published it was clear how fond as well as impressed he was with Ledgers work.
This essay can be read here on Newsweek:

Has Nolan even committed to making a third movie, or is this all speculative?

Secondly, are most of you fans of the comics, cartoons, or previous TV show and movies in regards to Batman?
I don't know any details about contractual obligations, but would anyone be surprised if the whole cast just went home and called it quits after Heath Ledger's death? I wonder what kind of impact that will have on the overall future of the franchise.

I don't really collect Batman comics - I enjoyed Frank Miller's Batman comic series (The Dark Knight Returns and Year One). I hated all old Batman movies, but loved Batman Begins.

Bale, Oldman, and Caine are all signed on for 3 movies. Freeman signed on for 2 movies, so he might be done. You would have to think that WB will make a third with or without Nolan, given the probable high box office intake of TDK.

As far as I know, it's all speculative and most of the rumors stem from comments by Goyer regarding a trilogy when Begins was released.

That being said, I hope/pray that Nolan will be back.

Why would anyone quit? People(cast & crew) were hired to do a job. Accidents happen and people die all the time. Everyone copes and move on.

I think Nolan and company will finish off the trilogy and then leave. BTW, there is (rumored) a "Joker Card Moment" at the end of TDK (meaning, strongly hinting at another villain that will be introduced in BB3).

And, IIRC, Bale did sign a 3-picture deal when he agreed to BB. Now, I don't know much about Hollywood contracts, so I don't know if he's contractually obligated to do another Batman movie if Nolan walked.

Yeesh, that is a hideous poster with absolutely none of the mystique, style and flair of the two "Why So Serious?" Posters or the two international ones. I hope that's photoshopped, and not an indication of the "regime change" at the marketing department....

First and foremost, I'm a fan of the comics. Have been reading them since I was 6, and my first issue was "A Death in the Family" part 3. Needless to say, that pretty much mind-F-ed me into a Batman fan since. I've kinda fallen off in the last year or so (adulthood SUCKS), but I read them pretty consistantly up until 2006. I LOVED the cartoon series (by Dini, Timm et. all) all the way up through JLU and felt that it was the closest they'd gotten to the comics (Until Begins that is ). Batman '89 is fun and enjoyable, but it's not a great movie, and it's certainly not a "true" Batman flick. The rest of that series are wretched abortions. The new series is closer to the comics than I ever thought we'd get on screen.

That poster also reminds me that I still dislike the Batman costume.
That's the new poster? Looks like fan art. Really bad fan art.

As for the third film, it should have Two Face as the main villain, with one or two minor secondary characters such as Solomon Grundy that Two Face can use to his advantage. Maybe you could fit The Penguin in as a crime boss, but I'd much rather see the focus be on Two Face vs. Batman and Harvey Dent vs. Bruce Wayne.
I would think people would be more likely to walk over the stuntman who died onset last year than the off-set death of an actor.
i cant see the poster
Quote: I would think people would be more likely to walk over the stuntman who died onset last year than the off-set death of an actor.
The stuntman did not die on set. He was testing one of the Batmobile vehicles in England. He was on the clock, but not on the set.
I see no poster.
How about now?

Edward Nigma was cast and is supposed to make a cameo type appearance in TDK.
So if they use the Riddler, they already have the actor to portray him.
I can see it now. Thanks.

It does look photoshopped, but maybe it's a picture clarity problem.

One thing I'm also curious about...what did people think of that short movie that came out online a few years back called "Batman: Dead End?"
Batman: Dead End was neat and had more style than either of the Schumacher Batman films.
Quote: Batman: Dead End was neat and had more style than either of the Schumacher Batman films.
That's an interesting opinion Daniel.

But that's not saying much. It's fun as a lark, but the Joker was terrible (both makeup and acting), and casting a jacked up stuntman and putting him in comic book tights does not a good Batman film make.

This is, of course, within the realm of what the short was actually doing, which was essentially a fanboy "Alien vs. Predator vs. Batman" thing.
