Episode III didn't open up on a holiday weekend. Like all of Lucas' other films, it opened up the weekend prior to the weekend Memorial Day.

Hmm. It made $132m last weekend. If it makes $63m this weekend thats still a big drop.

A 50% drop is pretty typical for a second weekend, really, and $63 million would still be among the very top few second weekends ever.

50% is pretty average for these type of blockbuster openings, and with $135 on opening weekend...

Well, 63 in its second weekend would be fantastic. I don't think anybody is going to complain about making $250 million after the second weekend.

50% used to be the norm with the huge massive openings...but with the way movies have been heavily front loaded, its inched up to 60-65% drop-offs.

Now you're actually doing a solid if you open really huge and only drop off 50% in week two,
