I'm really surprised Superman Returns has done this well in the poll.
Batman Begins is overrated though. THat scheme with the vaporizer and the water was just silly. Otherwise, it was a damn near perfect Batman story.

I didn't mind the bad guys or their scheme...I just thought the delivery method was beneath their intellect...not to mention mine. How about a crop duster fellas...or maybe an air baloon like scarecrow on the animated series.

Definitely, the vaporizer water thing was pretty damn goofy - forutnately though, it didn't ruin the movie at all for me.

I saw in the other thread about Superman Returns having some powerful, emotional scenes. I'm sure the movie had some, but I want to give the folks who voted for SR a chance to give some examples of those here.
With BB, my favorite emotional scene was the conversation Bruce and Alfred had after the funeral. I thought Alfred delivered two great lines:
1) No, no, Master Bruce. Nothing you did. Nothing anyone ever did can excuse that man.
2) It's his, and his alone. Do you understand?

I'm surprised Superman Returns is even getting compared to Batman Begins. Batman Begins really raised the bar IMO for superhero movies, and there have been some great superhero movies like the Spiderman films and the first two X-MEN movies.
I will give you guys that the microwave thing wasn't the best, but that really was a small piece of the movie overall. The movie really got deep into the batman character, and why he does the things he does. Also there was a real intellectual conflict between Raz'al Ghul and batman with their views on how to "save" gotham, or what should be done with a criminal. The understanding and realistic motives of Raz'al Ghul's character made him a much more interesting villain. I think this is what has made the X-MEN movies so interesting, the differences between how Magneto and Xavier view the world, it creates a real conflict.
I was extremely bored with Superman, none of the struggle between Lex Luthor and Superman made sense beyond a simple good vs. evil. I think Supermans reason for leaving and coming back were really glossed over, they could have been more emotionally explored in the movie and the overall story. The theme of whether or not the world needs a savior should have been more developed and intertwined with the struggle between superman and the villain. It would have made the whole story come together and could have also been mixed into the love story between Superman and Lois.
