Here are three of the four 3D scenes. Can't remember the other one right now.
Spoiler:

Lifting Lex's new "continent" and taking it into space
Actually, that scene is NOT in 3D - the scene that is the third 3D scene is when
Spoiler:
the Lex continent starts to break the water surface, lifting the boat out of the water, the boat breaking etc. and superman saving Lois, Jason and Richard...the scene ends when he gets them flying in the plane - well before he takes the continent into space.

the Smithsonian is so screwy - here's the reply I got from them regarding if the Udvar-Hazy IMAX would be converted to playback 3D films and if the downtown (3D) screen would get the 3D print:
Your inquiry of June 19, 2006, regarding the IMAX film "Superman Returns"
has been received in the Smithsonian's Public Inquiry Mail Service for
response.

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center's IMAX theater is not scheduled to be
equipped to show 3D films in the near future.

Only twenty minutes (out of two and a half hours) of "Superman Returns" is
in 3D. At the Lockheed Martin Theater in the National Air and Space
Museum on the National Mall, the theater is unable to switch back and forth
from 3D to IMAX repeatedly.

We appreciate your interest in the Smithsonian Institution.
in regards to the highlighted response - how is this any different from a theatre that is 3D equipped?- obviousily there explanation makes no sense.

I think what they are trying to tell you is that they don't have the 3-D version, but not to worry about it, since only 20 minutes are in 3-D anyway.

That's the only thing I didn't like about the IMAX version is that they could have made so many more scenes into 3D. It's like that just brought it together at the last minute.

I think it took a lot of people, time and effort to make those 20 minutes work in 3D, let alone 154min, so I'll take what we can get... I also don't know if I could stand to watch anything MORE in 3D, each time a sequence ended, while I enjoyed it, I was glad the 3D parts were over and we got a break.

I finally saw it in IMAX this evening and while a majority of the film looked beautiful, there were a few scenes that I noticed while watching it that were obviously shot on HD video which I didn't catch during a 35mm presentation on opening night. The major scene being Lois and her son on Lex's boat. Not as glaring as say Scary Movie 4, but glaring enough that one could easily catch-up on it. Suffice to say, Panavision has a long way to go before the Genesis can match the quality of 35mm (or 70mm) film.

The 3D scenes were nice, but my friend and I both agreed the 3D trailers before the film looked better.
