I watched Jennifer Love Hewitt whoring for Garfield 2 on The Tonight Show last night --and I really dislike Jay Leno, so I was just tuning in because I think JLH is an astoundingly beautiful woman, so if William Wallace wants to defend her.. I got yer back, Billy.

I'm also a huge fan of Jon Stewart and TDS, and this is not how he treats most of his guests --especially not his celebrity ("I'm out promoting a movie") guests.
He can throw down with a guest (see Bill Bennett) but that's with somone who's accustomed to taking up a political debate.
Jon is usually a much more polite host.

In this instance, Stewart didn't know what the frak to say to JLH.
"Tell me about your pets" is scraping the bottom of the barrell, as far as talk show banter goes, and those were two pretty big insults he threw down about the movie.

I give JLH credit for smiling and being a good sport about it.
I also give her credit for her spectacular breasts.

You want the straight answer, fine.

I highly doubt Jon has any ill feelings towards JLH. It must have been more of a situational thing. Garfield the movie wasn't one that gathered much respect and well, was the butt of many jokes when it was released. In previous situations in THE DAILY SHOW jon has made fun of many things. Including and not limited to himself. Yes, he gives himself a hard time whenever he can about voicing what he described as "blue toothpaste looking thing" in Doogal. Other examples of him and his show giving folks a hard time for whatever item is during the taped interviews. The daily show is a satire news program and the interviews are really free flowing. If the person is there promoting something that can be made fun of, it will be the target of that.

Why do it? especially to a nice lady like Jennifer? Well, why not. The show is a comedy. It's suppose to make people laugh. People find the idea of her being in a Garfield film to be rather funny since many folks did not, and still do not see Garfield as any sort of quality film though opinons may differ.

sound better?

Hypocritical.

You have edited a fair amount of your posts in this thread too. Who knows what you may have edited out?

Not that it matters. I don't refresh this page every 30 seconds(you must be doing that, since I usually edited my posts within a minute after posting), so I probably won't catch if you are constantly editing your posts. Not that I care, just making a point that anyone else can and will edit their posts.

Anyway, you really seem to be arguing just for the sake of the arguing at this point. Why do I say this? Because you keep bringing up topics that were already covered earlier in the thread. Topics which I already explained, and yet you bring them up again.

I'm done with this pointless word argument for tonight. Wasted enough time already.

Thanks Count Dooku. Good to see someone who watches the Daily Show able to give an opinion on how Jon Stewart treats most of his guests.

I really didn't buy that this is how he always acts to guests on his show.

The thread is strange because the incident in question is 2 years old.
I think your comments about it being "creepy" were definitely rude and bordered on insulting.

actually nothing. When I edited it was always to put more into the post. I don't just change a potentially inflaming comment into "edit"

So now you're making fun of me and in just about every way saying I'm creepy for editing or as you claim, refreshing constantly. Again, if you didn't care you wouldn't point it out. Admit it, you do care.

I gave you the straight answer above without any "creepy" comments. No arguments at all there, seems like you decided to bring this up after I choose to play it straight. The situation was Garfield is not one of those films people see and go.. "oh yeah, that makes sense" It's easy to make fun of and in this case

I doubt it. Usually folks want to get in the final word. Much like how you brought this debate back to life after I did give you a decent, non-offensive answer.

You just brought this debate back to life after I said I'm done with it.

That must mean you just want to get the FINAL WORD!

nice logic, eh?

It was creepy for many reasons but the two years old factor was the biggest. it was worded strange and he did get defensive and later edited out those parts which did continue the creepy vibe.

I think your comment about JLH's breast is offensive and degrading to women.. ok, maybe not, the thread was indeed worthless without pictures. But you can see that I'm making an example to show that what is offensive and degrading various from person to person. You posted something sexual. Now will you confuse that by thinking I'm calling you sexy? No. lets see what I said

"wow.. this thread is just.. wow.. creepy to say the least." Notice that I'm refering to the thread. I also said that it's sounding creepy. Much like I said you were posting sexual pictures. There's a difference.

actually, your post was after my "straight response" so I was simply responding to what you brought back to life. Again, I wasn't the one, nor did I ever claim that I was walking away from it.. nor did I claim I was done with it. You did.

Thank you. Those "creepy" and "obsessive" comments were the first comments to really rub me the wrong way.

This sort of mentality always comes across a million people could state the way a show or film is reviewed and if just one person supports the persons claim, they'll jump all over that. You get two different opinions on a show and you latch on to the one that supports your agenda.. how interesting.

Quit trying to create stories about my making comments and editing. There was only one real rude comment I made which I edited, which was directed to FinkPish. In addition to that, every edit I made was almost immediately after entering the post anyway. Since most people don't recheck this thread every minute, I figured I can post whatever and decide to edit later before anyone reads it.

In fact, the first edit post you referred to was a simple mistake of a post(meaning, I didn't mean to make that post to begin with).

First of all, all I did was thank him for his view on it. I did not say I believe him 100%, although I tend to believe him considering that from what I have seen of Jon Stewart, he usually doesn't treat his guests that much different from Jay Leno or Letterman, IMO.

You want the truth?

Here it is:

I don't put much credibility in the way you percieve things, especially after your analogy of Punk'd and The Daily Show, and your inability to recognize what is considered rude behavior.

I Don't get it, how was this interview different than any other? Stewart was being cool as hell with her.

If you don't know Stewart's sense of humor by now, you must have just recently tuned in or something.

I think Jack is being a little hard on WW. This could've easily been a normal topic. The conversation just got out of hand.

Oh come on and admit it. There's nothing wrong with being obsessive about an actress. I'm obsessed with Uma Thurman and I don't care what anyone else thinks about it.

If anyone has Uma Thurman's new address and new phone number (she keeps changing it for some reason), let me know. She has some explaining to do. And nobody better be mean to her!

Damn, I go to bed thinking this thread is going to just evaporate, and I come back to see this. The flow of this thread makes it more eligible for the Political Forum instead of the Movie Forum.

Finally, the kind of controversy Garfield couldn't bring the first time around. Now everyone's going to go see it.

If I am a huge fan of someone, I am not afraid to admit it. The thing is, I'm not. I have no reason to lie about this. I am barely even what you can call a fan considering that I haven't even watched her movies.

I watched full episodes of Desperate Housewives and just just for the few glimples of Eva Longoria you get with each episode. I rented some crappy European flick that I knew I'd not enjoy just because Monica Bellucci was in it. I think you'd have a much stronger case of me being an obsessed fan in those cases.

You have officially forfeited your right to call anyone/anything in this thread "creepy" or "obsessive".

Oh boy. Each of those is like 15 minutes long. No way am I gonna watch all of those. You need to pick up a hobby.

I still find it amazingly funny that you might not like seeing people made fun of and yet you love punk'd..
And I find it amazingly funny that you actually believe you made a good point with all this comparing Punk'd to Jon Stewart nonsense.

OMG this again..did the school bullies give you one too many wedgies as a kid? Did they teepee your house a little too often? Did they trick you into stepping on dog poo occasionally?

This is the only explanation for you viewing these pranks as such evil acts.

Newsflash: FRIENDS PLAY PRANKS ON EACH OTHER.

If you can't distinguish between someone being a dick and someone pulling a harmless prank on a friend(and if you paid attention to Punk'd, you would see that this is usually the case. Do you even watch Punk'd?? You realize that usually the victim's family or friends are participating in the prank???).
