BTW, great flick. I loved the first three Bond films and then steadily nurtured a growing hatred for the growing absurdity of each successive film. By the time Bond was driving a modified rocket car inside an ice castle being melted by a laser(?), I was in desperate need of Jason Bourne.
Well, hallelujah for Daniel Craig and a re-energized, HUMAN Bond. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

I don't know, just because she's a successful independant woman, dosen't mean she should know everything. I'd be more disapointed if she did know it all (and I don't mean that from and "so the audicance can find out" viewpoint).
Get pissed off when somebody other than Bond has a flaw - not fully understanding gambling...?

No big, though. It wasn't a killer for me. I still enjoyed the movie. Just not that.

True. I suppose that conversation/exchange didn't really stick out to me though.
I thought the poker game added to the movie, but it may have been on the long side. However, I think I would have felt cheated if it was the "inside the building" part from MI:III that you never see while they are in Tokyo. I WANTED to see what happened.

From: 30-minute drive from Tampa HR....
So, I got around to watching this movie over the weekend, and like others, I was highly impressed. I really liked the direction that the series has gone, turning away from more of the basic plot, cheesy over the top special effects. Needless to say, I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.
Some things did leave me wondering though:

Craig wants a gay Bond
Daniel Craig has revealed that he is pressurising producers to include a gay scene in the next James Bond film.
The 'Casino Royale' star is riding a wave of popularity following the success of his first turn as the legendary superspy and is intent on revolutionising the franchise by making its lead character more unpredictable.
In addition to pushing for a gay scene in 'Bond 22', the British thesp has assured bosses that he is more than prepared to do a full frontal nude scene to please his male and female admirers.
He said: "Why not? I think in this day and age, fans would have accepted it.
"I mean, look at (British TV series) 'Doctor Who' - that has had gay scenes in it and no one blinks an eye."

won't most Bond fans be outraged if he has gay scenes? i mean, unless it's a threesome...
Doesn't it sort of go against his whole image? He's a ladies man. Plain and simple.

I could see a gay Bond scene. Wouldn't be too hard to work in (gigity gigity gigity). Maybe a homosexual villian or sub-villian who Bond needs info from? I could see it ending violently before they go really far.
As for Casino Royale... Saw it with my dad. He's been seeing Bond movies in the theaters since the 60's. So he likes just about any of them - and liked this one.
Me? I thought it was fantastic. Martin Campbell has made two now - the only two that I've watched and find tolerable. Not only tolerable, but very well rounded action movies.
I really appreciated the coldness that Bond showed. I don't think I've seen it accentuated before. It helps flesh out his character. It'll probably make the old ones a bit better.
The action was enjoyable. The lower key scenes were tense. WHY? Because action sequences are dull if they lack a backstory with some sort of emotion to grab onto. It's what drives Lethal Weapon movies, Michael Bay movies, and even older Steven Segal movies.

While I have no problem with a gay scene, I think it does somewhat contradict what the character is all about. I am not sure how they could write this into a film, and it is interesting that he is so up for it.

I was most definitely impressed, as was my father. ****1/2 out of *****.
Great job of casting. Very happy to see that they kept the high-tech stuff to a minimum for the most part.
