Meh, still pretty mediocre. The black & blue one is the coolest of that bunch.

That's for damn sure. I'm not sure there's a better moment from a trailer than when you see Darth Maul has a double-bladed lightsaber for the first time.

Was there new Maul-centric footage added to this release? Because featuring him so much on the posters is odd given he's a bit character at best.

The comments from months back say it's the theatrical versions of the prequels, but man it would certainly do wonders for their box office if they added in more Maul, esp. the extended fight on Tattooine.

This was an unbelievable struggle to get through on Blu-Ray without fast-forwarding to the end duel. I can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would actually pay to sit through this crap again. Fuck you Lucas.

These two sentences don't work together.

Given all the Maul-heavy posters, I wondered if something changed since then.

Re: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace...in 3-D for 2012

I'm not too thrilled with Lucas continually changing the original trilogy but I would actually see episodes 2 and 3 again if he decided not to kill Maul in 1 and inserted new footage of him in 2 and 3. Sure it would screw up the whole only one master and one apprentice stuff but I don't hold the prequels in high regard anyway. Heck I would be all for having Lucas getting Hayden back to film a fight scene with Maul in 3.

Any guesses on what will do better theatrically? RED TAILS or PHANTOM MENACE 3-D?

Re: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace...in 3-D for 2012

I don't think there's any surprise Maul is on the posters for the Episode I re-release since he's the only good thing about the prequels. Maybe they're trying to cater to people that haven't seen it in awhile and want to reel them in with how badass he was.

That was just BS that Lucas added midway through development. Originally, there were meant to be numerous Sith Lord (and a character identified as a Sith Witch) infiltrated in the Senate and other parts of the government. Also, Qui Gonn was originally conceived as Obi-Wan's young apprentice.

For whatver reason Lucas ditched all that, reversed Obi-Wan's and Qui Gonn's roles, and made Anakin a child.

So, several new posters have been released, and they're still ignoring one of the major characters. What's up with that?

He was the only cool Sith who actually felt intimidating. The rest of the villains in the next 2 films were lame.

Maul's certainly made somewhat of a comeback recently (Thanks to the Disney Parks)

I'm taking my son, who's now 11, to see this. He loved the movie on DVD, but has never seen in in the theatres.

Good news?

George Lucas To Retire

Posted By Dustin on January 17, 2012

George Lucas is retiring from "blockbuster" film-making. This information comes from an extensive profile of The Maker published in The New York Times as he returns to the spotlight with Red Tails. Here's the quote:

"I'm retiring," Lucas said. "I'm moving away from the business, from the company, from all this kind of stuff."

Red Tails will be George's last big project, except for Indiana Jones 5. Yes, he is apparently still planning to do another one. He will also be returning to art house film-making, where he began his film career so many years ago.

But what about Star Wars?! Don't get your hopes up fanboys and girlies. When asked directly, George replied with the following:

"Why would I make any more when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?"

Click here to read the rest of The New York Times' in-depth profile of Lucas.

Kind of odd since just last week, McCallum was saying the live-action tv series was still on, but was just oh so far off.
