Was it me, or was the score in the trailer a really bad ripoff of the Requiem for a Dream song?

Yeah, those do look bad. They look really, really fake, except for the shot in the bathtub. I'm not hating on the movie, I'm just calling it like it is. Those visuals stink. They may be in process effects, in which case they may look better in the finished product. I am not saying the movie will suck. I personally didn't like this trailer and those visuals are a big part of the reason why.

Let's just agree to disagree. I don't think either of us is going to persuade the other.

Exactly what I thought. The giant white stripes on the car didn't help either.

Looks cool to me. I never read the book or never even heard of the book prior to hearing about the movie, so maybe that's why.

Oh, as far as the effects, I thought they looked pretty good outside of the car at the end.

But what do I know, I defended the effects in Hulk

He plays a guy that is the only human left on Earth. Everyone else has been turned in to Vampires. Thus the reason he can be out in the daylight without being in danger.

To me those shots from the trailer all looked really good except for the car one. I'm usually pretty picky about this sort of thing too, so either I've just stopped caring, or they did a decent job.

I've gotta say, this movie looks pretty cool so far, and while it's a just a teaser trailer it looks like they're going to keep the serious tone of the book in tact. The move to NY works for me better than the suburbs of LA to be honest. That said, if they changed the name and made this a standalone film I think I'd feel a lot more comfortable with it. I have a feeling there's going to be little similarity to the book.

I've been wanting to see this re-made for a while, so to actually see the trailer is kind of nice. It looks good.

FWIW I didn't dislike Omega man for what it was. But if they are going to make a movie called I am Legend. I want to see something resembling a faithful adaptation of the novel. Rather than a remake of Omega Man. Which had little in common with the book.

How is this new? The entire trailer looks like it could have been ripped from "28 days later." They're clearly going for the same effect - make a major metropolitan city look deserted. For the record, Danny Boyle did it awesome....this, I'm not so sure of...

The book the movie is about is from 1954. So I guess they aren't suppose to make movies that have deserted cities anymore?

The trailer and movie look interesting. Definitely a movie I would enjoy watching. Put me down for being in the "change the name" camp. Not because I think it will suck or take anything away from a really good book, but by changing the name would increase the chances of a closer adaptation of the book.

I felt the same way about "I, Robot". It was a great special effect filled, mindless action flick, but it killed the chances of a real adaptation taking place.
