Yeah...that's what I thought.
I hear there's a group of people jumping off the George Washington Bridge in protest of high movie ticket prices in NYC. Since other people are doing it, maybe you should, too.

I have, but not for at least 20 years (when I was around 20). My brother still does it regularly. In fact, I think every time he goes to the movies he sees at least 2 and only ever pays for one.

I have a friend who does this not only at the regular theater, but he takes his son, and GF to the " dollar " theater to do a 3 for 1. So he's pretty much seen every PG13 "scary" movie released in the last few years.

I've done it three times this summer....but hadn't previously done it since I was about 12.

At the three theaters I frequent the most, its beyond easy to do it.

BTW, I still spend about $80 a month in movie tickets.

I'd love to do it more often, but I have...

1. College.
2. A 30+ hour a week job.
3. A girlfriend who hates how I enjoy going to the movie theaters.

The last theater hopping I did was back in May when a friend and I saw Mindhunters and snuck into Kung Fu Hustle (too bad the lesser of the two movies got our money). However, before that, I haven't done it in over a year.

Nope. I pay almost $15 for a movie ticket, but money never factors into it.

Used to do it with g/f (now wife) but since we are older now.. we rarely have time to do 2 movies at one time... .never get caught or have any problem... oh one thing.. i used to pay for the 'underdog' movie (just 'cause i wanna help them out ) then see the 'main' movie first then the underdog movie... like, I'd have want to see Starwar but pay for the penguin movie, then see both of them.. haha.. my wife thought i was weired.....

No, I mean I've thought about it but when theres only 2 major theatres here in my city I dont think its worth the risk. I have a card that gets my friends in free because Im in a wheelchair so really I only have to pay about 3.50 a movie because they pay half my ticket.

I've only done that once:

In 1997, I saw four movies in one day.

We paid to see My Best Friend's Wedding at 11:00 AM. Then stayed for Hercules, Face/Off, and then topped it off with the stupendous Batman & Robin.

True true. What sucks about working at a theatre is that you have to work the weekends. While your friends are partying or hanging out, you have to freaking work. If I see customers theatre hop, I just let them go. I don't know why so many of you guys get caught hopping into different movies. About that manager that turned off Cellular because he saw people sneaking in, that's just stupid. I would have just asked for the tickets and if they didn't have it, kick them out. Turning off the movie for theatre hoppers is the worst thing you can do for the other customers who paid to watch the movie.

Tip - just act like you really bought tickets to the movie you are hopping into and you will be fine. Don't act suspicious

Oh yeah another tip, if the bathroom is really messy or if you thought the presentation sucked (audio, video) complain to a manager. When they ask what you want them to do about it, tell them you want passes for the inconvenience. 99% of the time they will give you free movie passes.

I'll do it occasionally. Particularly at theaters that charge a lot and then show 10 minutes of commercials and then send a theater worker down the aisle with a coffee can for donations to some cause. It's my revenge.

I did it once or twice as a teenager, but then, like some of the others here, I grew up. If someone wants to do it, fine, but it seems lame to me.

That's nice. Maybe you could just not see movies? Or rent them after they come out on DVD? Or sign up to Netflix and see them for even cheaper? That's like saying if there's an open seat on an aircraft you have the right to sneak on board even though you didn't buy a ticket because otherwise you couldn't afford to take 3 vacations a month.

Before you start in, yes, I buy all my DVDs and CDs.

I havent done it in at least 15 years. Back in HS when kids didnt have hardly any money, we would see 2 movies from time to time. I miss the old theatre here when you paid $5 and could see three films right after another since it was just one big screen theatre.

I used to do it regularly, but haven't forever. Times change, I guess.

Try acting like an adult and you might have a different opinion.

Do you start these threads just so that you can get pissed when people don't agree with you?

Nope. Did it ONE time (it was an MI2 and Road Trip double feature).

My broke-ass, unemployed friends sneek in from time to time. But I take no part. Just meet them in the theater.

There's usually only one or two good movies at the theaters anyways.

Or I just have the money to blow.

Or I go to the dollar theater - which is actually two dollars now!

I just do it so I can sleep snuggly on my Bible at night.

I never hopped over to another movie after seeing the one I paid for, but when I went to see The Order starring Heath Ledger, my friend and I became so bored and frustrated with the movie that we got up and went over to watch Freddy vs. Jason instead. Before we left, I leaned over to my other buddy who wanted to stay and watch and told him, (spoiler for The Order)
Spoiler:
"I bet Heath Ledger becomes the new sin eater."

After we got done with Freddy vs. Jason, we went back to The Order since the 2 other guys we went with were still watching it. The instant I sat back down
Spoiler:
Heath Ledger was walking down a tunnel and said, "I AM... the Sin Eater." When about 75% of the audience busted out in laughter, I knew I had made the right choice to leave. The rest of the night my 2 friends were saying that I missed on what the movie was about. I just maintained that I missed out on nothing since I guessed how the thing ended.

Yeah, since I get in for free.

When I'm on the job, I usually kick out a couple of people every weekend or so for it.

Why rationalize theft and trespassing?

I've done it once or twice. I didn't feel bad about it, nor did I get a rush. I very rarely go to the movies by myself, and most girls don't feel like it's a good thing to do on a 'date'. I doubt I would do it again, but I don't really have a reason as to why.

I'm much more likely to skip the last hole on miniature golf (the one that eats the ball), and finish up on the next course.

So...what happens if you do get caught? Are police involved? Banned from the theater/black listed perhaps? Anyone?

I only do this with a certain friend of mine...He will NOT go to the movies any other way. We've never gotten caught.

I used to do this when I was a teenager, but now it's not worth the embarassment of being caught!
