Movie-hopping...do you do it?

I'm guessing that the people that sneak into other films are also the kind that will try to get a better seat at the ball park or a concert other than the ones they actually paid for? Are you the people who eat stuff at the grocery store without paying for it too?

Sneaking in candy contraband is about the extent of what I'm willing to do. Never theater-hopped.

I've done it once. If I remember correctly, I paid to see Tomb Raider and then snuck into Memento after. I paid for the wrong movie.
I was surprised at how easy it was, but I haven't done it since. Too afraid of getting caught.

I did it one or twice
Saw The Pledge (ex-gf and I are huge Nicholson fans - crappy movie/great performance, btw) - then sat through a few minutes of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, then a few minutes of Hannibal - then the closing credits of Traffic.
- we didn't plan out timing very well for that...
The lite-rush was great though.

Back when I was poor (about 10 years ago), yes, I sometimes did it, but not too often. But since I've been making mone, no not at all. But now, I don't have enough time in one day to hit tow movies anyways. Are there even 2 good movies palying at one time now?

No, but I often wear a big loose shirt and stick a can of Diet Dr. Pepper in my jeans pocket.

YES and I'll do it till the day I die!!.........no j/k I did it once, felt horrible about it, will never do it again
although I don't really think it would be nearly as big of a problem if they didn't charge an arm and a leg for tickets + concessions more people would go and would be willing to pay. I've done double features tons of times and it's expensive.

The trick is to find the price that maximizes revenue, not necessarily to find the price that gets the most people in the door.
I'm not personally going to judge someone who does this sort of thing, but I don't think it can be argued that sneaking in to movies is not wrong. It's most certainly wrong regardless of how much the theater charges for a ticket, but it's not likely something that really costs theaters money.

Used to do it a lot when I was younger (hell who hasn't) not so much anymore, once in a while I will but usually not. I do sneak in candy/drinks/pizza though if I am running with the guys, if I am on a date I buy snacks in the theater....unless my date is REALLY cool and she likes sneaking things in too then I am game

I do this sometimes when I buy DVDs at the store.

I still wouldn't. It's still cheating/stealing from the theater.
Not having extra income is not a reason to make your own 2 for 1 deal at the theater. It's no different than walking in a store and stealing something because you don't have "extra income" to pay for it.

Last "double feature" was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory followed by The Devil's Rejects.
I "justify" the practice by making sure that the 2nd movie is one that, while I obviously am interested in, I wouldn't actually pay to see it in a theater anyway - so it's not as if my little hop is reducing the box office take.

I like the psychology in you statement, it makes stealing sound ok.

I'm going to steal a care because I don't have the extra income for it.

I used to this a lot when i was in high school. My mothers friend got me hooked on this hobby. The AMC theater in downtown san antonio is pretty dead during the day so there was always a seat waiting for me. I even used to sneak in my whoppers with cheese and french fries and munch out there since there was a burger king across the street from the alamo. Ofcourse now there are some theaters like the alamo draft house based out of austin that serve hambergers and pizza but i always thought it was funny how people used to tell me why did'nt i think of that. I did this for a 3 year period i never got caught. I remeber i stayed there once and watched 3 movies once. Now i never have the time to go to theaters any more.. Ofcourse if you are really bad at sneaking into the theaters like my cousin you can get banned.. Too bad it was because he wanted to see

The movie seat was unsold, and once the screening is over, it's value to the rightful owner (the theater) is gone forever. Whether or not someone snuck in and sat there has no financial impact<color font=red>** on the theater.
Eating food at a grocery store takes something that the store would eventually have sold - so there IS a financial impact on the owner.
<color font=red>**Actually there might be a positive financial impact for the theater, if, due to the extended time spent on the premises, additional money is spent at the concession stand.
