i hate saying this since she is so hot but its jessica alba. If you want to see bad acting honey is probably the worst i have ever seen.
other consideration
mariah carey (but since she is primariliy a singer i can't really count it against her)

Add Jessica Alba and Tara Reid to the list. How are they still getting parts in movies and TV?
Worst Actor: David Spade. Can't he portray anyone other than a smartass prick?
Worst Actress: Denise Richards. Her acting is so wooden, the tree in my backyard can do a better job.

The Fisher King
Good Will Hunting
One Hour Photo
Dead Poets Society
But I'll agree with you that Robin's purely comedic films aren't very good...

And for the record, I used to like him as a comedian, until one day while watching him I realized that if I had been seeing him in a live performance I would have beaten him to death. He's just that bad!

Ashton Kutcher, I despise his visage.
And probably the most overrated-- Jaime Foxx.
If he hadn't been so celebrated and cooed over and awarded and then ate up every ounce of it with his diva tears and channeling-the-spirit-of-Ray-Charles dog and pony show, I wouldn't knock him. He's ok in Collateral, but that Ray performance really just grated my nerves.

It's kind of like taking an art class in junior college. There's a reason the instructor's *teaching* art instead of making a living as an actual artist.

Some people in hollywood are multi-talented....There are definately directors who can act and vice versa. As others have noted, Clint and Mel are 2 of the best examples.

There's a difference between actors who direct & directors who act. Gibson & Eastwood fall into the first category and Sham-a-lang-a-ding-dong & Tarantino fall into the later.
Please don't confuse the two.

If Ben Affleck only made 2 movies a year and people stopped caring about his personal life, he wouldn't be as hated as he is. Most of his performances are serviceable.
Keanu Reeves does his thing, and people go see it. Same with Vin Diesel. They stick to what they know, and people seem to tolerate it enough to make them millions of dollars.
Robin Williams, doing comedy, is cringe-worthy these days. But as a dramatic actor I LOVE him. And I hate when comedians try to "grow" and become serious actors. Insomnia, One Hour Photo, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society... all great stuff.
Nicolas Cage's performances can vary GREATLY from film to film. 8MM has got to be one of the worst performances I've ever seen, but then he's fine in Bringing Out the Dead. He's wildly overacting in Snake Eyes, but in a fun way. And if you REALLY want to see Cage overacting, seek out a film called Deadfall. It features the most overacted performance EVER recorded on film.
I think Gary Cooper is one of the worst actors ever to make it big. He's flat out horrible. Dull, wooden, just a big hulking stick. Sorry to go old school.
