Okay this isn't a "worst" choice exactly, but I do want to call her out:

Out of supposed "A-list" actors - I am going to have to go with a bold choice - Natalie Portman.

She is fine, but has no range whatsoever. I laugh when people say she is better than Johansson (who, IMO, acts circles around Portman).

I loved her in Closer for non acting reasons and was happy she got recognition for "growing up", as anyone from Leon deserves any and all recognition, but I cringed everytime she said a line. She is the worst crier on screen, as well.

Horrible in Star Wars (not really her fault she was one note. See Lucas.), Anywhere But Here, that Wal-Mart movie, was barely in Heat and Cold Mountain to even rate, and was just okay in Garden State.

Sean William Scott. I want to like this guy, but he just won't let me. His attempts at comedy are painful to watch and when he tries to play a serious guy, his lack of acting ability is glaringly obvious.

dishonorable mentions...Jennifer Tily, Paul Walker, 99% of all rappers, Hayden Christiansen, and Corey Feldman.

just okay in garden state? pssh. i'd disagree. to each his/her own.

here's a question i don't feel like dedicating a thread to:
where does this scarlett/natalie comparison come from? it seems arbitrary to me.

You spoiled the movie and made everyone happy at the same time.

That's rare.

I'm going to have to say Samuel L. Jackson, as far as being overrated. He's had amazing roles, but if he's not being directed by Tarantino, it's just not as good. And if he's not playing someone who's completely insane with rage, it's also not as good.

I wouldn't call him the worst by any means, just a bit overrated.

The worst actress was the fat protagonisy in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Worst actor? DMX.

Is there a Scarlett vs. Natalie thread somewhere? They actually do warrant some comparison. Natalie had an impressive debut as a preteen in Leon and followed that up with Beautiful Girls(plus a bit part in Heat). Scarlett had an impressive debut as a preteen in Manny & Lo and followed that up with The Horse Whisperer.

Both actresses have also matured into adult roles onscreen. And they both seem to play characters older than themselves. Natalie in Episode II, ROTS, and Where the Heart Is(at least by the end of the movie), and Scarlett in Ghost World and Lost in Translation(she wasn't even 18 when it was shot).

And if you need an additional parallel in their respective careers, both actresses starred opposite Ewan McGregor in a big budget sci-fi flick this summer.

I would watch a 8 hour epic with everyone mentioned if this piece of crap would get black listed. How has he gotten a job outside of Bill & Ted's EA and other stoner roles?

I'm gonna have to agree unfortunately. I think she's pretty and all, and I've wanted to like her as an actress, but she's never really been that good in anything I've seen.

I thought he was very good in "Changing Lanes". Affleck wasn't bad either, imo.

It's ironic. Even though he's arguably the worst actor, with roles in The Matrix, Dracula, and Dangerous Liaisons to name a few, you gotta admit he must also have the world's greatest agent.

I have to agree with those who have said Vin Diesel. Sure SPR was a great movie and he wasnt that annoying in that (maybe thanks to SS).

BUT, I hate him in everything else. He talks like he has a mouth full of cotton.

Has anyone seen a preview or clip of Lumet's "Find Me Guilty"?? He LOOKS and SOUNDS ridiculous in that!!

Some others that I dont like....

Paul Walker (nice to look at, but not much up stairs)
Chris Klein (I loathe this POS...what was Mel thinking?)
Jaime Pressly (shes hot, but I hate when she opens her mouth)
David Spade (not funny anymore)
Rob Schneider (see David Spade)
Paul Giamati (haha just teasing)

No, no, don't be afraid to toss his name around. Before SIDEWAYS and CINDERELLA MAN, Giamatti was just awful in numerous pictures. I just hated him for many years.

I like him in just about everything ive seen him in (specifically Sideways, American Splendor and Cinderella Man)...though ill admit Ive never seen such masterpieces as 'Big Fat Liar'.

I think he is a excellent actor.

There are more rappers out there with fantastic performances than you'd think. Here lately I've been seeing films where they have REALLY impressed me.

a couple that kil it for me are..

B.Affleck--whenever I see him in a role I ONLY ever see him
A.McDowell--One of the first names that popped into my head and boy was I surprised someone else mentioned her.
B.Stiller--I know a lot like him but he just annoys me to no end. He is like the goofier Affleck of cheasy comedy roles.

Those are my big three just right off the top of my head.

Some of the others mentioned like Keeanu and Costner are overrated as actors for sure but I see them as similar to T.Cruise. They mostly make overhyped, big budget movies but to call them the "worst" actors acting is a bit of a stetch for me. Sure they have made drek but each has made films that I have 100% enjoyed....Matrix, Field of Dreams, Last Samurai to name a few.

I agree. I've enjoyed his stuff since I first saw him as Pig Vomit. He's definately gotten meatier roles in recent years, but even in his more simply comedic roles he's played, or even a small role in SPR, he's always been solid I thought.
