Anyone care to comment on Batman's IMAX experience? I've seen the movie in the regular theatre, now I wanna see it in IMAX, is it worth it?
|
With all the positive buzz here I cannot see why this film didn't do better. I am starting to think that the DVDTalk forums are nor an accurate representation of American society.
Also, I totally disagree with the "Guess I'm not a big enough nerd," statement. It's one thing to not like the movie and give reasons, but to insult the people who did is another thing entirely. Honestly, I am starting to think there are more guys in this world who would rather get blowjob from Angelina Jolie than see a faithful Batman movie. |
Id love to see it again. I saw it at the IMAX but our seats werent good. Its probably more worth it to go if you can get good middle seats at an IMAX.

I loved Batman Begins, but I'd take the Angelina Jolie bj over it
I've seen a few movies in an imax theater (but they were still 35mm) and I have to say sitting as far back as possible is the way to go in an imax theater. middle works well for normal screens, but at least at the imax here middle is pushing it as far as being too close |
I'm not even a fan of Jolie and I'd destroy every copy of Batman Begins in exchange for Dr. DVD's deal!!!

In all honesty, I don't think there is a single man who posts here who wouldn't want to be given oral by her. Here's an obligatory pic, and to make it fit with the topic at hand, I want to throw her name out for the new Catwoman. ;) http://img.actressarchives.com/angel...296923_600.jpg |

Batman Begins Sets New IMAX Record
Source: IMAX Corporation IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that "Batman Begins: The IMAX Experience" debuted with record breaking box office results and outstanding moviegoer response this past weekend. The digitally re-mastered IMAX release of Batman Begins set the record for IMAX's biggest five day opening, with estimated domestic grosses of $3.16 million, as well as the highest grossing opening day for a Hollywood simultaneous release, at approximately $754,000. The film opened in 55 North American IMAX® theatres, registering an impressive per screen average of more than $57,500 over the five-day period from Wednesday, June 15 to Sunday, June 19. "Batman Begins: The IMAX Experience" also opened strong in several key international territories, with IMAX theatres in the UK, Mexico, The Netherlands and France reporting sold out shows, high occupancy rates and particularly strong results. The total box office grosses from the 16 international IMAX theatres that opened the film this weekend are estimated to be $487,000. The two new AMC IMAX theatres located in Phoenix and Kansas City - which signed just six weeks ago and debuted with "Batman Begins: The IMAX Experience": - sold out almost all of their showings during their opening weekend. The newest Cinepolis IMAX theatre, which opened in Guadalajara, Mexico timed to the release of the film, also debuted with numerous sell-outs and great consumer response. The bfi IMAX theatre in London was again the top performing international site in the IMAX theatre network, with opening weekend grosses of $109,000. The Pathe IMAX Theatre in Amsterdam, the Gaumont Disney Village IMAX theatre and the other Cinepolis IMAX theatres in Mexico City and Monterrey also reported impressive results. "The strong opening weekend performance of 'Batman Begins: The IMAX Experience' is a testament to what a fantastic film this is, how ideally suited it is for IMAX's format, and the outstanding job Warner Bros. Pictures has done in promoting it," said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler. "The strong word of mouth coming out of the first weekend leads us to believe this film will be a significant draw for the IMAX theatre network all summer. Just as 'The Polar Express' excited audiences in IMAX® 3D, we feel 'Batman Begins' in IMAX's format will bring in incremental 2D audiences eager to pay a premium price for The IMAX Experience®." I RECOMMEND WATCHING THE FILM AT A IMAX THEATRE, EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE LIKING IT ON IT!! |

We've all seen films where there are three or more cuts just for throwing 1 punch. Horrible.
I don't think logic or film analysis will settle this debate, people either liked the fights' style because it put them in the middle of the confusion (like a real fight would) or they didn't because they couldn't see what was happening. As for the Spoiler:

I tend to agree. I think Net folks like us are like people who call Radio Talk shows. We’re a very vocal opinionated minority of the population. |

I know it is often criticized for Batman's almost supporting role, but Michelle Pfieffer as Catwoman is probably the most interesting and entertaining character in the series (sorry, Jack). Some of the most compelling Batman stories over the years are ones where he has been a side character (the animated series had many episodes that focused on the villains, The Long Halloween was split between Batman, Gordon and Dent), so I don't see any reason to knock the movie for him not being the only focal point. We had already learned alot about Bruce in 89's Batman, so exploring his past again would have been redundant. Burton's darker, more violent and somewhat satirical tone also more closely matched the books, especially Dark Knight Returns, than the more humorous first film. The film is also given a slicker, renewed Gotham that has obviously been benefitting from Batman's aid since his appearance in the first film. Burton wisely set the film in an indistinct time period that mixes various eras of cars, fashions and architecture to give Gotham its timeless, yet still garish and grim, look. The disappearance of the pop soundtrack also helped to set the more timeless feel as Burton falls back on relying on Danny Elfman's score to set the musical mood. Elfman sets up distinctive themes for each character, a trend that is noticeably missing from the three more recent films. The score for Forever (later recycled nearly completely for Batman and Robin) felt like stock tracks that might have been made for a Batman video game and never really fit the films. Begins has a completely indistinct score that could have easily been dropped into a Jerry Bruckheimer film without any notice. Just some of my thoughts on the Batman series. As I've said before the soundtrack for "Begins" was a welcome "mature" take on the Legend of Batman. It fit the movie like glove. |

Holmes Dropped from 'Batman' Sequel
Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman have signed to star in a second Batman movie, but love interest Katie Holmes has been dropped. Movie bosses are thrilled with the response to Batman Begins - it took $46.9 million in its first weekend at the US box office - and have snapped up the film's stars for a sequel. Bale as Batman was the first to put pen to paper, followed by Caine as butler Alfred and Freeman as Bruce Wayne's business associate Lucius Fox. But Holmes won't reprise her role as district attorney Rachel Dawes - reportedly because Warner Bros is angry her engagement to Tom Cruise has stolen media attention away from the movie. [IMDB.com] |

added, I suppose:
A source tells Pagesix.Com, "Everyone is in agreement that the movie's strength is with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman." Adding of Holmes, "She won't be in the sequel... the next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress. Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the Joker rather than Katie and Tom." |
The Japan side is really empty and the people coming to see them are so little.I saw it yesterday with a friend and she is seeing Batman for the first time on the theater. She really loved it a lot.I just did not like the camera work on the fight scenes.Other than that it's a perfect movie for me
