'Friday the 13th' Announcement !!

From http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/

Earth-Shattering 'Friday the 13th' Announcement NOW!
Well someone beat us to the punch, but we can confirm it's true- New Line Cinema is working on the Ultimate Friday the 13th Movie and is in talks with Quentin Tarantino to direct the bugger! Is this earth-shattering enough news for you? I hope I didn't disappoint. Wouldn't you agree? Forget Freddy vs Jaosn 2 for now? The news gets even bigger, but for now you can read on (talk about it here) and see what you shouldn't be seeing just yet...

IGN writes, "Oscar-winner Quentin Tarantino is in final negotiations to write and direct the Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie, an all new Friday the 13th for New Line.

While the rumor mill had long suggested that the next movie might be Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, that project never came together for a number of reasons.

Fans will instead be treated to the Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie. The project will be a co-venture between New Line and Paramount Pictures. It is expected to be a "quickie" that could get underway as early as this year!

Tarantino's production company, A Band Apart, referred us to the William Morris Agency. A rep at WMA would only advise us that Tarantino has "not yet" been offered the job while refusing to elaborate any further."

This would be so awesome if it happens. What gets me is the co- New Line/Paramount thing.Who would have thunk it!

Yup, just sounds like a crazy rumor & Tarantino has almost been attached to so many films that this hols no merit until it's official.

Personally, I'd much rather see Tarantino do something else .

Same here. I know Tarantino loves genre elements, and he could direct the Teletubbies movie and I'd watch it, but I'll wait and see, as Tarantino rumors happen way too often.

Since nothing new, unique, or interesting can be brought to Friday the 13th, Tarantino would be wasting his time. This character has been ridden like a racehorse, except he's more like a mule. So Tarantino would do himself well to run away from this project. The words ultimate and Friday the 13th don't belong together.

I don't believe this story anyway.

Hey, if Tarantino gets ANY movie made in the next year or so, I'll be happy. I love his work, but I don't want to wait another 6 years!

Yeah, this won't happen. Then again, if QT has an 'original spin' and can crank this pup out with a 6 week shoot, 3 months of post and be done with it, I say why not?

Then what? Will it be the oft rumored 'Inglorious Bastards'?

Jason will dance around his victims and then cut their ears off. You haven't seen the Battusi dance until it is done with the music: Cha-cha-cha-cho-cho-cho.....

Well, there's only 2 more installments to end the series, right?

Even if this was true, why the hell would New Line co-develop the idea with Paramount? Paramount only owns the first eight films and that's it. Everything else New Line controls now and I'm sure they wouldn't want to split any of the profits.

So the rumor goes, but I wouldn't bet on it.

hey Terrell, I've always said if you didn't get any enjoyment out of the first ten, there's not a chance in hell you'll enjoy this one.

sound familiar?

Not very likely, but if it happens, I'll be first in line on opening day.

I just look forward to Jason having a monologue before killing another hapless victim.

There should be a rule for fanboys to stop posting 'news' on sites claiming to be "I heard from an iside source who I can't say who at the moment who said.....".

I always take those 'news' as pure rumor fanboy daydreaming attempting to be 'cool' with 'top secret info' that does'nt exist(expect in their heads).

For example,I never once believed a Freddy vs Jason vs As(stupid title btw!) was even being considered. Then other fanboys are saying a Freddy Vs Jason Vs Leatherface will happen(or insert any other villian here).

Now we have "The FvJvA is on hold at the moment and Tarantino is going to do the 'ultmate' F13th film!"...and it just does'nt make sense. At least until legit sources(ie-Tarantino himself) are made public. I won't believe it for a milisecond.

The 'coproduction' between Paramount and New Line is another dead giveaway that this is a huge rumor/lie...and unfortunately I suspect some people will actually believe it!

So for all you fanboys spreading lies as 'news',get a life and um maybe state "I wish this type of film would happen....." instead of saying it 'is happening' when no one but yourself is even thinking about it!
