He might want to use elements from the first batch of FRIDAY films.

Doesn't paramount own the Friday the 13th title too? reason why the New Line ones went by different names?

I know Paramount has always looked down on this series, but maybe the regime change could change their view.

Although the more likely truth is this is BS.

Quentin Tarantino has been rumored to direct more movies that haven't got of the planning stage than he has directed movies:

Friday the Thirteenth Part 11
Inglorious Bastards
Vega Brothers
Kill Bill Vol. 3
A Gogo Yubari Movie (co-directed with Takashi Miike!! )
Casino Royale
Untitled Kung Fu Movie (shot entirely in Mandarin )

Those are just the ones I can think of.

Well, Rum Punch is the book by Elmore Leonard that QT based Jackie Brown on, so, in reality, he actually made that one.

He stated on Charlie Rose that Kill Bill Vol. 3 wouldn't happen for about 10 or 15 years...allowing the little girls to grow up....so Vivica Fox's girl can enact her revenge on the Bride...with the help of...

I can see him doing a homage to the Friday and or slasher films, but not a direct sequel.

I'll be surprised if this is true. Although when I first started hearing about Kill Bill a few years back, I thought it sounded so ludicris that it had to be a rumour.

He's also rumored to be working on a script for "Jason vs Freddy vs Ash vs Alien vs Predator".

I think there should be a rule in the film community that rumors about Tarantino projects should not be allowed. You can't even trust what Tarantino says.

I believe none of this stuff, until a studio announces it or Tarantino is actually behind a camera shooting a scene.

maybe I'm reading the article wrong, but at one point they mention they are in final negotiations with Tarantino for the film, and in another part they mention that he hasn't been offered the job yet. this doesn't make sense, someone help clarify.
