I suggest you read the whole thread again, more closely this time.
I've read it 3 times now, tracking what happened.
He posted his defense of the movie, and you effectively (passively-aggressivley) called him "insane" for liking the movie that much.
Then he said:

It has nothing to do with being anal retentive it's having a brain & seeing TONS of extremely well made movies of this genre. I love a good mindless movie, that is what X2, Spider-man, Predator & on & on are, but all of those have decent stories, dialogue, & vision by the director.
I'm not expecting Shakespeare, but at least something fun & original. Maybe you haven't seen a lot of movies or have very low standards, I don't, so when a movie just makes poor attempts at ripping off better movies, & does not even make an effort at offering a coherent script, I don't find that entertaining. That people like you do explains why these movies keep getting dumber & dumber & more & more unimaginative. And that you claim to be a huge fan of the source material, & then say Garner embodies Elektra, I just find it hard to belive that anyone who read the Miller stories would think that.

Have I missed something?
That sure seems to me that you called him names and insulted him first.
I'm confused why you are not seeing this - it's in black and white, for anybody to see here.

For example, The Punisher is a film often defended because it was made on a comparitively low budget. However, it is slow, banal and the script is shoddy - in many places, just silly. These are issues with the actual filmmaking and are, I admit, matters of opinion.
But when someone tries to excuse that with "oh, it only cost $40 million to make, leave it alone"... that's just being silly. It wouldn't have cost Jonathan Hensleigh a dime to have gone to the library and read some good crime fiction before he decided to write the script that he did. For that matter, Artisan/LGF could have easily hired themselves a better all-round filmmaker to helm the film, instead of hiring a first-timer.
One might wonder just what could have been accomplished with a more accomplished filmmaker than Hensleigh. After all, Bryan Singer made the excellent The Usual Suspects, and Robert Rodriguez' Desperado has some fun, over-the-top action that's brilliant to watch - both films look polished and professional, and neither film cost more than ten million bucks to make.

Telling people they're insane or unable to tell something is unoriginal isn't conducive to a polite conversation, IMO.
Back on topic, I'll probably catch this flick this week, but I don't have high hopes: reviews have ranged from "meh" to "terrible."

Ok, here is my beef with the movie. The plot was so see thru I thought I had read the script before I got to the theater. She meets this girl and her dad and they spend 15 min of the film getting to know eachother, the run in at her house, the christmas dinner and all that. Then it is suppose to be an "Ah gasp!" surprise that Electra finds out that those are the people she is suppose to kill? Electra is suppose to be this heartless killer that will whisper in your ear and then slice you in two but once she has christmas dinner with these people that was enough to make her rethink her life and then help save them? I think any other "badass" assasin would have just gutted them like anyone else. Her dad in Daredevil was an arab guy but in Electra her dad is this white english dude? And what about the almighty Hand? How is it that they are suppose to be this unstoppable force and all but Electra kills them after an afternoon in the forest? And then to top it off she saves the girls life at the end. I knew the minute that the girl was killed that Electra would have to use her "special powers" that she learned from Stick to ressurect the girl. It would have been better if the girl just died. That would have been a surprise ending. All in all the movie just wasn't that well thought out. I liked Garner and think she did a good job. I also liked her agent or whoever that guy was that gave her jobs. But he died, along with the Hand and any chance of a sequel. **/***** stars.

I LOVE Punisher. I mean I LOVE that flick. Just a helluva lot of fun. Hardcore, violent, over-the-top, yet realistic, no CG, just old school action film-making. I loved it!

Elektra should have been more like Leon: The Professional. What was that budget? I'm tired of these over-produced Hollywood flix! Garner is great and would have been good in a Calmed down, non mysitical, Leon type movie.

enjoyed the movie overall. my only gripes with it were that some fights felt like they ended too early, and a lot of the characters in the movie, well we don't know anything about. I really wanted to know more backstory on some of the villians and so on.

i saw electra and thought it was decent flick. Is the comic as sci fi as the movie. I would have preferred a more traditional assassin flick more.

This seems to be the first DVD review:
http://www.dvdfile.com/software/revi...1/elektra.html
The second deleted scene "Come Back To Me," is a cameo by Ben Affleck in which he reprises his role as Matt Murdock.

In fact, Fox even denied the cameo was shot!
